Christiansø Church
Christiansø Church is a church on the Danish island of Christiansø, some to the north-east of Bornholm. It was initially the church for the garrison stationed in the island's fortifications. History The church was first consecrated in 1685 when the island's fortifications were completed. Serving the garrison, it was in a small ground-floor room in the fortification tower, where it was used until 1821. It was then moved some to the east to its present location on an irregular quadrangular plot surrounded by fieldstone Fieldstone is a naturally occurring type of stone, which lies at or near the surface of the Earth. Christiansø
Ertholmene (formerly spelled ''Ærtholmene)'' is a small archipelago in Denmark. The largest island is Christiansø, whose name is often used with reference to the entire archipelago. Ertholmene are situated northeast of Gudhjem, Bornholm, and include Denmark's easternmost point. Two of the islands, Christiansø and Frederiksø, are inhabited, with a combined permanent population () of 91. The archipelago has a total area of . Its name is derived from the Danish for "pea islands". Historically an important navy location, the fortress closed in 1855. Since then there has been no operable military infrastructure on the archipelago, but it remains under the formal administration of the Ministry of Defence, which employs 25 to 30 people for maintaining the islands' civilian infrastructure, museum and historical buildings. Bornholm
Bornholm () is a List of islands of Denmark, Danish island in the Baltic Sea, to the east of the rest of Denmark, south of Sweden, northeast of Germany and north of Poland. Fieldstone is a naturally occurring type of stone, which lies at or near the surface of the Earth. Fieldstone is a nuisance for farmers seeking to expand their land under cultivation, but at some point it began to be used as a construction material.
