Christianity In Kuwait
Christianity in Kuwait is a minority religion, accounting for 18%-20% of the country's population, or 650,000 - 750,000 people. Kuwait's Christians can be divided into 2 groups. The first group are Christians who are native Kuwaitis numbering approximately between 600 and 800 people. The second group, who make up the majority of Christians in Kuwait, are expatriates from various countries around the world. There are also a number of Crypto-Christians from a Muslim background in the country, though many are not citizens. A 2015 study estimates some 350 such Christians in the country that are ex-Muslim. Vicariate Apostolic Of Kuwait
The Apostolic Vicariate (or Vicariate Apostolic) of Northern Arabia ( la, Vicariatus Apostolicus Arabiæ Septentrionalis Arabic: النيابة الرسولية العربية الشمالية) is a Catholic apostolic vicariate (exempt pre-diocesan Latin missionary jurisdiction) with official seat in Bahrain. Kuwait City ( ar, مدينة الكويت) is the capital and largest city of Kuwait. Ghattas Hazim (born 1963, in Mhardeh, Syria) is a Greek Orthodox (Eastern Orthodox) hierarch. Since 2014, he serves as Metropolitan of Baghdad, Kuwait and Dependencies, under the jurisdiction of Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East. Biography Metropolitan Ghattas Hazim was born in 1963, in Mhardeh, Syria. He earned a bachelor's degree in Theology from the St. John of Damascus Institute of Theology in 1987. He was ordained a Deacon in the Archdiocese of Hama in 1989, and a priest in 1990. He was elevated to the rank of Archimandrite and appointed Vicar to the Metropolitan of Hama.
