Christiane Ayotte
Christiane Ayotte, O.C., is a Canadian scientist and academic from Quebec. She is currently the director of the Armand-Frappier Santé Biotechnologie Research Centre was formerly the President of the World Association of Anti‐Doping Scientists from 20162018. Education Ayotte received a MSc and PhD in organic chemistry from the Université de Montréal. Ayotte then pursued two years of post-doctoral studies in mass spectrometry at the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS). She next became a research associate at the Doping Control Laboratory of the INRS. Since 1991, she has been director of the Doping Control Laboratory, the only Canadian laboratory accredited by the World Anti-Doping Agency, and has been a research associate professor at INRS since 1992. Systematic doping of Russian athletes has resulted in 48 Olympic medals stripped from Russia (and Russian associated teams), four times the number of the next highest, and more than 30% of the global total. Russia has the most competitors who have been caught doping at the Olympic Games in the world, with more than 150. Grigory Mikhailovich Rodchenkov (russian: Григорий Михайлович Родченков; born 24 October 1958) is the former head of Russia's national anti-doping laboratory, the ''Anti-Doping Center''. Rodchenkov is known for his involvement in the state-run doping program in Russia. In November 2015, the Independent Commission of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) had determined that Rodchenkov was "at the heart of the positive drug test coverup", and that he had been directly involved with concealing positive tests and destroying 1,417 urine samples. Rodchenkov made headlines in 2016 after an interview to ''The New York Times'' exposing the doping program in Russia.
