Christian Wilhelm Walter Wulff (; born 1959) is a retired German politician and lawyer who served as President of Germany from 2010 to 2012. A member of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), he previously served as minister president of the state of Lower Saxony from 2003 to 2010. He was elected to the presidency in the 30 June 2010 presidential election, defeating opposition candidate Joachim Gauck and taking office immediately, although he was not sworn in until With the age of 51, he became Germany's youngest president. Christian Wulff (1777–1843)
Christian Wulff (21 February 1777 – 17 March 1843) was a Danish naval officer. He commanded on her expedition to South America in 1840–41. He was the younger brother of Peter Frederik Wulff, who headed the Royal Danish Naval Academy from 1724 to 1841, and was the owner of Petersgaard at Vordingborg. Early life Wulff was born on 21 February 1777 in Copenhagen, the son of first lieutenant and later commandant Frederik Christian Wulff (1749–1812) and Kirstine Wulff née Johansen (1755–1829). Christian Wulff (31 July 1810 – 1856) was a Danish naval officer and friend of the writer Hans Christian Andersen. Early life Christian Wulff was born on 31 July 1810 in Copenhagen, the son of Peter Frederik Wulff. He was the brother of Henriette Wulff. Career Wulff joined the Royal Danish Navy as the family tradition prescribed. He became a second lieutenant in 1825 and a first lieutenant in 1835. He reached the rank of captain lieutenant and captain in 1851. Personal life Like his parents and sister, Wulff was a close friend of the writer Hans Christian Andersen. They exchanged many letters and Andersen stayed in his apartment at Amaliegade 37 in Copenhagen from 27 June to 24 August 1848.
