Christian Wolfarth
Christian Wolfarth (1960 in Zurich) is a Swiss jazz percussion player. Biography Wolfarth moved to Bern in 1981, where he studied under Billy Lewis Brooks at Swiss Jazz School from 1982 to 1986. Then, he studied under Pierre Favre at ''Konservatorium Luzern'' (1992–96) and had an education in the field of composing under Siegfried Kutterer in Basel (1995). He worked with musicians like Christine Sehnaoui, Burkhard Beins, Urs Leimgruber, Jacques Demierre, Enrico Malatesta, Ingar Zach, Evan Parker, Albert Mangelsdorff, Werner Lüdi, Paul Lovens, Norbert Möslang, Alexander von Schlippenbach, Hans Koch, Simon Picard or Jürg Solothurnmann and participated in interdisciplinary projects in the fields of theater, movies, videos, contemporary music and dance (such as Dance-Company of Nina F. Swiss Jazz School
Swiss Jazz School in Bern is the first autonomous jazz school in Europe, which offers continuously jazz lessons. The school was founded in 1967. Jazz
Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. John Wolf Brennan
John Wolf Brennan (born 13 February 1954) is an Irish pianist, organist, melodica player, and composer based in Weggis, Switzerland. Career Brennan was born in Dublin, Ireland. His family moved to Switzerland when he was seven years old. He began taking piano lessons at age eleven, played bass guitar in a rock band in 1970, then played keyboards in a jazz-rock band. He studied at the University of Fribourg (late 1970s), Swiss Jazz School in Bern (1975–79), the conservatory in Lucerne (1979–84), and the Academy of Church and School Music (1985–87). His brother Peter Wolf, a singer, saxophonist, flautist, and oboist, founded the progressive rock band Flame Dream in 1977. Christian Weber (1972 in Zurich) is a Swiss double bass player. He is especially well known in the field of free improvisation and jazz. Life and works In 1990, Weber began playing double bass. After taking private lessons in Zurich, he moved to Graz in 1993 for studying at the academy of music and performing arts. Simultaneously, he started studying under Aderhard Roidinger at Anton Bruckner Private University for Music, Drama, and Dance. His education at this university lasted to 1998. Günter Müller
Günter Müller (born October 20, 1954) is a German sound artist who originally performed as a percussionist and drummer, active primarily in free improvisation. He was born in Munich, West Germany, but has lived in Switzerland since 1966. Background Originally a drummer in various jazz ensembles, Müller grew interested in free improvisation and began utilizing various extended techniques. He used contact microphones to amplify his drum set, and has incorporated various electronic effects, sometimes using an iPod or MiniDisc recorder to loop or otherwise process his performances. Increasingly since about 2000 Müller has emphasized electronics, sometimes entirely forgoing percussion.
