Christian Vander (footballer)
Christian Vander (born 24 October 1980) is a German former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He was the second-choice goalkeeper at SV Werder Bremen behind Tim Wiese after the departure of veteran Andreas Reinke. Before joining Bremen in August 2005, he played for VfL Bochum and KFC Uerdingen 05. He made his league debut for Uerdingen at the age of 19, playing 90 minutes in a 2. Bundesliga match against SpVgg Unterhaching on 9 May 1999. In 2014, Vander became goalkeeping coach at Werder Bremen. Willich
Willich () is a town in the district of Viersen, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is 20 km west of Düsseldorf, 14 km north of Mönchengladbach, 10 km south of Krefeld, about 30 kilometres east of the border with the Netherlands and 45 km east of Roermond. History The city was founded in 1970 out of the formerly independent villages of Willich, Anrath, Schiefbahn and Neersen, although the villages are much older. Anrath was mentioned for the first time in 1010, Willich in 1245, Neersen in 1262 and Schiefbahn in 1420. The villages belonged to the Electorate of Cologne until the French Revolutionary Wars: in 1794, French troops occupied the left bank of the Rhine; France annexed the territory later ( 1797/1801) and kept it until 1814. 2009 DFB-Pokal Final
The final of the 2008–09 DFB-Pokal season was held on 30 May 2009 at the Olympiastadion, Berlin. Werder Bremen won with a 58th-minute goal from midfielder Mesut Özil. This was the club's sixth DFB-Pokal in its history, after victories in 1961, 1991, 1994, 1999 and 2004. This was Bayer Leverkusen's second DFB-Pokal final loss of the decade, the other occurring in 2002. Werder Bremen lost the 2009 UEFA Cup final ten days prior to the DFB-Pokal final, losing to Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk.
