Christian Union (Lithuania)
Christian Union ( lt, Krikščionių sąjunga) is a political party in Lithuania. It held its constituent congress on 8 February 2020. The constituent congress elected the initiator of the party, Rimantas Dagys, its chairman. Member of Seimas Egidijus Vareikis, Signatory of the Act of March 11 Jonas Šimėnas, and several former members of the Seimas (including Petras Luomanas, Jonas Valatka, and Arvydas Akstinavičius) also became members of the party. Priest Robertas Grigas presided over a prayer in the congress. Grigiškės
Grigiškės (; pl, Grzegorzewo) is a town in the Vilnius city municipality, Lithuania. It is an industrial town with AB Grigiškės, a major paper factory built in 1923. Grigiškės is situated on both banks of the Vokė river, south from the river Neris. History Mounds from the 5th to 10th centuries show that the surrounding lands have been inhabited for a long time. Kunigiškės, Kauno Vokė and Salos-Afindevičiai villages were there, with the modern Grigiškės settlement being founded only in the 20th century. The name in 1923 was given by Grzegorz Kurec, an industrialist of Belarusian origin, who built a paper and cardboard factory and a water power plant with a unique Grigiškės water aqueduct. Sigitas Tamkevičius
Sigitas Tamkevičius (born 7 November 1938) is a Lithuanian prelate and Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church and Archbishop emeritus of Kaunas. Pope Francis raised him to the rank of cardinal on 5 October 2019. Biography He graduated from secondary school in Seirijai in 1955 and entered the Kaunas Priest Seminary. He spent several years in the military service in the Soviet Army and then continued his theology studies, graduating from the seminary in 1962. He was ordained priest by Bishop Petras Maželis on 18 April 1962. He ministered as vicar in the parishes of Alytus, Lazdijai, Kudirkos Naumiestis, Prienai, Simnas. In 1968 he entered the Society of Jesus, which was then illegal under Soviet law. Tamkevičius was among the initiators of the petition action protesting the Soviet discriminating restrictions on the Kaunas Seminary. Petras Luomanas
Petras ( el, Πετράς) is the archaeological site of an ancient Minoan town on northeastern Crete. Geography Petras is just east of the modern Cretan town, Siteia. The site is situated on top of a small plateau and overlooks the sea north of Crete. Archaeology Metaxia Tsipopoulou began excavations at Petras in 1985. The main building, which was two stories when it stood, is 2800 square meters. Petras has a drainage system, double staircases, dadoes, frescoes and cut slab pavements. Marks appear on the architecture of double axes, stars, branches, double triangles and Linear A signs.
