Christian Magleby
Christian Magleby (born 8 June 1977) is a Danish former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Club career Magleby progressed through the Brøndby youth academy under the tutelage of Tom Køhlert, and made his senior debut for the club on 3 October 1995 in a 5–1 away win over Næstved Boldklub's reserves in the Danish League Cup. He was offered a four-year contract with the club in December 1996, but left for Lyngby in January 1997, as they were willing to offer him a deal which harmonised with his wish to finish his studies. His stay in Lyngby was highly successful, and he claimed in an interview that Premier League club Liverpool had shown interest in him in 2000. On 27 December 2001, Magleby joined Midtjylland on a three-year deal after Lyngby's bankruptcy. Kastrup () is a suburb of Copenhagen, Denmark, on the east coast of Amager in Tårnby Municipality. It is the site of Copenhagen Airport. The Danish Player of the Year award is an annual prize, which has been given to the best male Danish football player by the Danish Football Association since 1963. The winner is decided in a vote among the professional Danish footballers. Since 2000, there has also been an award for the top female player. The winner is decided by a vote among all Elitedivisionen players. Jens Petersen was the first player to win the award in 1963. When receiving the award in 1975, Henning Munk Jensen became the first player to win the prize for a second time. Up until 1978, the Danish Football Association's rule of amateurism meant only players in the domestic league could win the prize. The Danish Superliga ( da, Superligaen, ) is the current Danish football championship tournament, and administered by the Danish Football Association. It is the highest football league in Denmark and is currently contested by 12 teams each year, with two teams relegated. History Founded in 1991, the Danish Superliga replaced the Danish 1st Division as the highest league of football in Denmark. From the start in 1991, 10 teams were participating. The opening Superliga season was played during the spring of 1991, with the ten teams playing each other twice for the championship title.
