Christian Ludvig Diriks
Christian Ludvig Diriks (16 October 1802 – 9 July 1873) was Norway, Norwegian government minister and general auditor. Diriks was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. He was the son of Norwegian statesman Christian Adolph Diriks. He grew up in Laurvig (now Larvik), Norway where his father was Magistrate and Judge. He was cand. jur. in 1830 and an auditor in 1833. In 1840 he became a member of the Military Law Commission. He served as Office of the Auditor General of Norway, Minister of Auditing for two brief periods in 1856 and 1857, and later as temporary Ministry of Postal Affairs, Minister of Postal Affairs in 1861. He was married to Henriette Benedicte Munch (1823-1912) and was father of painter Edvard Diriks. The Norwegian Ministry of Postal Affairs ( no, Postdepartementet) was a Norwegian ministry that existed from 1860 to 1861. It was responsible for postal affairs. It was established on 18 August 1860 as a successor of the General Post Directorate, which had been separated from the Ministry of the Interior as a government agency in 1857. It ceased to exist already on 1 October 1861, when it was merged with the Ministry of the Navy to form the Norwegian Ministry of the Navy and Postal Affairs. Christian Adolph Diriks
Christian Adolph Diriks (1 November 1775 – 16 December 1837) was a Norwegian lawyer and statesman. He served as a representative at the Norwegian Constitutional Assembly in 1814. Biography Christian Adolph Diriks was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. He was the son of maritime captain Boye Boyesen Dyriks (1744–80) and Marie Elisabeth Stoppel (d. 1797). After studying law at the University of Copenhagen, he earned his cand. jur. in 1795. He worked for some years in the city court of Copenhagen. In 1806, Diriks was appointed Assessor in Kristiansand. In 1812, he was made Director of the Justice Court ( ''Justisråd'') for Laurvig (now Larvik). Diriks was Magistrate in Laurvig and Judge from 1812 to 1815. Edvard Diriks
Karl Edvard Diriks (9 January 1855 – 17 March 1930) was a Norwegian painter. Biography He was born in Christiania (now Oslo, Norway) to Christian Ludvig Diriks and Benedicte Henriette Munch. He was a grandson of government minister Christian Adolph Diriks (1775–1837) and a nephew of maritime officer and lighthouse director Carl Frederik Diriks (1814–1895). He began to study in Germany where he became acquainted with Norwegian and German painters Christian Krohg, Hans Gude, Frits Thaulow and Max Klinger. He first studied to become an architect at Karlsruhe from 1874 to 1875. He accompanied Krohg and Klinger to Berlin in the autumn of 1875 as a student at the Bauakademie. In the autumn of 1879 he settled in Christiania. On his first trip to Paris in 1882–83, he had become acquainted with Impressionism.
