Christian Jacob (politician)
Christian Jacob (born 4 December 1959) is a French politician who was the president of the Republicans party from 2019 to 2022. Over the course of his career, he held several cabinet positions, including as the Minister of French Civil Service in Jacques Chirac's second term as President of France. He served as the Member of the National Assembly for Seine-et-Marne's 4th constituency between 1995 and 2002, and then again between 2007 and 2022. He chose to not seek re-election in the 2022 French legislative election. Early career A farmer, Jacob served in positions of responsibility in farm trade unions, local, départemental, regional then national. He was the President of the CNJA (''Centre National des Jeunes Agriculteurs'') from 1992 to 1994. Jean-François Mattei (born 14 January 1943) is a French doctor and politician. Medical career Jean-François Mattei is a professor of pediatrics and genetics. He served as the director of Genetics at the teaching hospital of Marseilles. He was an advisor of the ''Comité consultatif national d'éthique'' (CCNE) until 1997, and has been a titular member of the French Académie Nationale de Médecine since June 2000. He was also the president of the French Red Cross until 22 June 2013. Elected positions On 4 December 1989, he was elected to the second district of Bouches-du-Rhône, replacing Jean-Claude Gaudin, who had been elected to the Senate; he was then re-elected to this position in 1993, 1997, and 2002. 1994 European Parliament Election In France
European Parliament elections were held in France on 12 June 1994. Six lists were able to win seats: an alliance of the centre-right Union for French Democracy (UDF) and the Gaullist Rally for the Republic (RPR), the Socialist Party (PS), the Left Radical Party (MRG), the French Communist Party, the National Front (FN) and Philippe de Villiers' eurosceptic right-wing dissident UDF list, which formed the Majority for Another Europe (MAE). 53.5% of the French population turned out on election day, an improvement on the last election in 1989.
