Christian Democracy (Greece)
Christian Democracy ( el, Χριστιανική Δημοκρατία, ''Christianiki Dimokratia'') is a Greek political party founded on May 12, 1953. In the national elections of 1956 the party gained only 0.01%. Its youth organization, Greek Christian Democratic Youth Organisation (Ελληνική Χριστιανοδημοκρατική Οργάνωση Νέων (Ε.Χ.Ο.Ν.)), was established in 1961. In the National Elections of 1963 the party gained 0.03%. During the Greek military junta of 1967–1974 its leader Nikos Psaroudakis was exiled by the regime in Gyaros ( el, Γυάρος). After the restoration of democracy, the party participated with Centre Union – New Forces in the national elections of 1974. In the national elections of 1977 it participated in Progress and Left Forces Alliance, a coalition of small left-wing parties. Christian Socialism
Christian socialism is a religious and political philosophy that blends Christianity and socialism, endorsing left-wing politics and socialist economics on the basis of the Bible and the teachings of Jesus. The Panhellenic Socialist Movement ( el, Πανελλήνιο Σοσιαλιστικό Κίνημα, Panellínio Sosialistikó Kínima, ), known mostly by its acronym PASOK, (; , ) is a social-democratic political party in Greece. Until 2012, it was one of the two major parties in the country, along with New Democracy, its main political rival. 2007 Greek Legislative Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Greece on Sunday, 16 September 2007 to elect the 300 members of the Hellenic Parliament. The leading party for a second term was New Democracy under the leadership of Kostas Karamanlis with 42%, followed by George Papandreou and PASOK with 38%. New Democracy managed to secure an absolute but narrow majority of 152 out of 300 seats in parliament. The populist Popular Orthodox Rally entered the parliament for the first time with 10 seats, while the parties of the left, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and Syriza, enjoyed a significant increase in their vote share. KKE received 8% of the votes (up from 6%) and won 22 seats (from 12), while Syriza received 5% of the votes (up 2pp) and 14 seats. The Democratic Revival (''Greek: Δημοκρατική Αναγέννηση Dimokratiki Anagenissi'') is a political party in Greece, initially founded in 2004 by Stelios Papathemelis.
