Christian Ancher
Christian Ancher (27 July 1711 – 9 January 1765) was a Norwegian merchant, timber trader and ship owner. Biography Ancher was born in Søndre Land in Oppland, Norway. He was the son of Bernt Ancher (1680–1724) and Karen Tanche (1685–1758). The son of a vicar in the Church of Norway, he trained in the trading house established by cousins James Collett (1655–1727) and Peder Leuch (1692–1746) in Christiania (now Oslo). He eventually became the largest timber trader in Christiania. He was also quite active in shipping. He is commonly associated with his residence, Paléet Manor near Bjørvika, which later was used as a Royal residence. Personal life He was married to Karen Elieson (1723–1806). Christian Anker (businessman)
Christian Anker (19 August 1917 – 13 December 1988) was a Norwegian businessperson. He was born in Kristiania, and spent his career in the family company P. Schreiner sen. & Co with 37 years as director. He retired in 1978. He also served as board chairman of P. Schreiner sen. & Co, chaired daughter companies such as Staal & Jern and Andr. Grønneberg, was a board member of Kværner and the Royal Norwegian Yacht Club, and supervisory council member of Kreditkassen. He was a board member of Selskabet for Oslo Byes Vel from 1966, succeeded Arno Berg as chairman in 1970 and stepped down in 1978. He contributed with metal and steel information to ''Farmand'' and '' Norges Handels- og Sjøfartstidende''. Christian August Anker
Christian August Anker (9 August 1840 – 30 September 1912) was a Norwegian industrialist. He played an important role in the early mining industry in Norway and was also a pioneer in the wood-processing industry. He was born at Halden in Østfold, Norway. The son of wholesaler Peter Martin Anker, he was the brother of Nils Anker and Herman Anker. He was raised at the manor house Rød herregård in Halden and was educated in engineering at Hannover and Zurich. Together with his brother Nils Anker, he created one of Norway's first pulp mill, Ankers Træsliberi & Papirfabrik at Fredrikshald in 1867. From 1873, he bought a number of properties at Hønefoss where a pulp mill became operational during 1881. He first became engaged in marble extraction at Fauske in 1884.
