Christian-Wagner-Preis
Christian-Wagner-Preis is a literary prize of Germany. Since 1992, the Christian Wagner Society has been awarding the Christian Wagner Prize to a contemporary poet every two years "in memory of the poet and his program of protecting all living things as much as possible". According to the statutes, the jury consists of five personalities from literary life. The jury decides on the winner in a closed session. The prize money is €10,000. Karl Mickel
Karl Mickel (12 August 1935 – 20 June 2000) was a German writer. Life Mickel was born in Dresden into a working-class family. There, he attended primary school from 1941 to 1949 and experienced together with his mother the bombing of Dresden in February 1945. The pictures of the following days never left him. From 1949 to 1953, he also attended secondary school in Dresden. He finished with the Abitur and was admitted to study in Berlin. From 1953 to 1958, Mickel studied economic planning and economic history with Hans Mottek and Jürgen Kuczynski at the . In 1958, he was an employee of the magazine ''Die Wirtschaft'', and from 1959 to 1963 editor of the magazine ''Junge Kunst''. Afterwards, he was a scientific assistant at the Hochschule für Ökonomie in Berlin and a member of the management of the Berliner Ensemble, where he worked together with Ruth Berghaus, lastly professor at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin. Friederike Mayröcker
Friederike Mayröcker (20 December 1924 – 4 June 2021) was an Austrian writer of poetry and prose, audio plays, children's books and dramatic texts. She experimented with language, and was regarded as an avantgarde poet, and as one of the leading authors in German. Her work, inspired by art, music, literature and everyday life, appeared as "novel and also dense text formations, often described as 'magical'." According to ''The New York Times'', her work was "formally inventive, much of it exploiting the imaginative potential of language to capture the minutiae of daily life, the natural world, love and grief". Life Mayröcker was born in Vienna, the daughter of a teacher and a milliner. Until age 11, she spent the summers regularly in the village Deinzendorf. In World War II, she was drafted as an air force aide, working as a secretary. From 1946 to 1969 Mayröcker was an English teacher at several public schools in Vienna. Lutz Seiler
Lutz Seiler (born 8 June 1963 in Gera, Thuringia) is a German poet and novelist. Life and work Lutz Seiler grew up in the Langenberg district of Gera, Thuringia (former East Germany). After training as a skilled building construction worker, he worked as a bricklayer and carpenter. During his national service in the National People’s Army (NVA) of the DDR, he started to take an interest in literature and wrote his first poems. The poet Peter Huchel was amongst those he first admired. Later he said “Why I started to read and write, I still have no idea. Literature was of no interest to me.” During the DDR years Seiler’s home town of Gera grew rapidly to service the uranium mines at Ronneburg and in his early poetry the symbolism of radioactivity was significant.
