French Rugby League System
The French rugby league system is a four tiered structure with the major national club competition being the Elite One Championship. Below this is the Elite Two Championship and a number of regional leagues. The teams in each competition can change each year depending on final standings and relegation/promotion. There is no set structure for promotion and relegation. If a club wants to go up or down a level then they will consult the Fédération Française de Rugby à XIII who will make the decision. French clubs can also apply to the Rugby Football League to compete in any level of the British rugby league system. 2014 Women's Rugby World Cup
The 2014 Women's Rugby World Cup was the seventh edition of the Women's Rugby World Cup, and the sixth held in Europe. The World Cup Final took place on 17 August. All of the pool games for the World Cup took place at the Centre National du Rugby (CNR) in Marcoussis and Marcoussis Rugby Club with the French union adopting the concept of restricting the tournament to one or two locations as in the 2010 Women's Rugby World Cup in London. Marcoussis is about 20 miles south of Paris. The knockout stages of the tournament also saw matches played at the CNR in Marcoussis, with the semi-finals, Bronze Final and Final taking place at Stade Jean-Bouin in the French capital – home of Stade Français. The matches took place on 1, 5, 9, and 13 August with the final played on 17 August. The tournament format was the same as in 2010, with 12 teams split into three pools of four. 2013 Mid-year Women's Rugby Union Tests
The 2013 mid-year women's rugby union tests were a series of women's rugby union matches played through June and July around the world. United States looked to avenge two losses suffered to France during last year's European tour in Orléans and Paris. As a part of a three-year test series agreement between New Zealand Rugby Union and Rugby Football Union, New Zealand will play against England its first match at home since 2007, when the team challenged Australia. The first test will be the curtain-raiser to the Blues – Chiefs Investec Super Rugby match and will be broadcast live on Sky in New Zealand.
