Christel Augenstein (born 15 July 1949 in Erfurt, Germany) is a member of the Free Democratic Party. From 2001 until 23 July 2009 she was the mayor of Pforzheim, Germany, making her the city's first woman mayor. When the city of Pforzheim had already been in a bad financial position she took over the mayor's office from Joachim Becker (SPD) and tried her best to maneuver out. Becker was the ruling mayor of Pforzheim from 1985 until 2000. Christel Bertens (born 29 May 1983, in Tilburg) is a Dutch bobsledder and track and field athlete. Bertens is a runner in a 2-bob mostly alongside Eline Jurg. In 2005 two Dutch female bobs qualified for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, however the team line-ups were still unsure. Christel Lau (born 3 May 1944) is a retired German field hockey player. Lau grew up in Hildesheim, Lower Saxony. Initially a track and field athlete, she did not start playing hockey until the age of 25. Lau played for Eintracht Braunschweig. With her club, she won eight German championship titles. She also played 24 games in total for the German national team. With West Germany, Lau won the 1976 Women's Hockey World Cup. In 1974, Lau was awarded the Silbernes Lorbeerblatt. Christel Andrée Julie Louise Brián Schwarck, married Marott (December 6, 1919 in Copenhagen – May 2, 1992 in Herlev) known throughout Denmark as ''Christel'' was a Danish illustrator, painter, and sculptor. Her debut in 1939 was for the weekly magazine ''Søndags-B.T.'' where she remained on contract for life and also worked for magazines in Denmark as well as abroad. In 2008, she was elected to the assembly of Lower Saxony for '' Die Linke'', although she is a member of the German Communist Party (DKP), which until now has cooperated closely with that party.
