Christ The King College, Onitsha
Christ the King College, Onitsha (CKC), popularly known as CKC Onitsha, or Amaka Boys, is a Catholic all-boys secondary school in Onitsha, Nigeria. It is ranked the top-ranked high school in Nigeria and 36th in the top 100 best high schools in Africa as of February 2014. CKC was founded on February 2, 1933, by the late Archbishop Charles Heerey, CsSp, along with Fredrick Akpali Modebe and his wife Margret, who (like in the other schools they founded) not only provided the land, but also built the first administration block and the first hostel accommodation. Heerey remained the proprietor of the school until his death in the spring of 1967. The chief mission of the school is to develop indigenous manpower and leadership skills from the vast pool of Nigerian youths and in a Catholic tradition and environment. Chike Ofodile
Chike Francis Ofodile, OFR (November 20, 1924 - August 3, 2014) was Attorney General and the Minister of Justice of Nigeria from 1985 to 1991 and a Judge of the International Court of Justice from 1984 to 1985. He was once the traditional Prime Minister of Onitsha. Early life and education Onowu CHike Ofodile was born on November 20, 1921 in Onitsha, Anambra State. For his primary school education, he attended Immanuel Church Infant School, St. Mary’s Primary School in Onitsha. The African Writers Series (AWS) is a collection of books written by African novelists, poets and politicians. Published by Heinemann (publisher), Heinemann, 359 books appeared in the series between 1962 and 2003. The Only Son (novel)
''The Only Son'' is the debut novel of Nigerian author John Munonye. The novel was first published in 1966 as part of the Heinemann African Writers Series. The novel follows an Igbo widow as she raises her son, Nnanna, who is educated at a Western school. The tension between the mother and her son occupies much of the novel. The novel, like many of Munonye's other novels, follows the struggle of Nnanna to deal with the expectations placed on him by the rest of the community. Pius Okigbo
Pius Okigbo (February 6, 1924 — 2000) was an eminent Nigerian economist from Ojoto village, the present headquarters of Idemili South Local Government Area in Anambra State; he was the older brother of the poet Christopher Okigbo. Receiving his secondary schooling at Christ the King College, Onitsha, Pius passed his Cambridge School Certificate examination in Grade one in December 1940 with an exemption from the University of London matriculation. In 1941, he admitted into the prestigious Yaba Higher College, Lagos, for a diploma course in arts (1941–1942). The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha ( la, Onitshan(us)) is the Metropolitan See for the ecclesiastical province of Onitsha in Anambra State, Nigeria. History On 25 July 1889, the Apostolic Prefecture of Lower Niger was established out of an area that previously formed part of the larger Apostolic Vicariate of Benin Coast. Valerian Okeke
Valerian Maduka Okeke (born 20 October 1953) is a Nigerian prelate who serves as the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha, and Metropolitan of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province. He was born in Umudioka, Anambra State and ordained to the priesthood on 11 July 1981 by cardinal Francis Arinze, who was then the Archbishop of Onitsha. After his ordination, he worked as a parish vicar at Holy Trinity Cathedral, Onitsha, under Emmanuel Otteh. Valerian Okeke later served as parish priest of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows' Parish, Umuoji (1983- 1986). Willie Obiano (born August 8, 1955) is a Nigerian politician, banker and technocrat. He served as the fourth democratically elected Governor of Anambra State from 17 March 2014 to 17 March 2022. Chris Nwabueze Ngige (born 8 August 1952) is a Nigerian politician and medical doctor.
