Chris Widener (author)
Chris Widener (born 18 April 1966) is an American author and motivational speaker. Widener has written several books on motivation and business and is a member of the Motivational Speakers Hall of Fame. Widener first entered the public speaking industry in 1988. Widener started American Community Business Network, a publishing company later known as Made for Success, in the early 1990s. He co-authored the 2005 book ''Twelve Pillars'' with motivational speaker Jim Rohn. In 2009, Widener sold Made for Success to his business partner. Widener hosted several programs for The Success Training Network, which was a web television site for marketing and motivational content. Widener ran a campaign as a Republican for Senate in 2010 in Washington State, which was halted before the primaries. Christopher Widener (born August 22, 1963) was the President pro Tempore of the Ohio Senate, and represented the 10th Senate District, which includes Madison, Clark and Greene counties. Before the Senate, he served three terms non-consecutively in the Ohio House of Representatives. He is a Republican. Career After graduation from the University of Cincinnati, Widener served two terms on the Mad River-Greene Local Board of Education before starting his legislative career. His resume includes a stint as a civil service architect at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, where he also served as the base's first full-time historic preservation officer until 1989. Widener was appointed to his first term as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives in 1999, but lost the party nomination to reelection to Merle G. A motivational speaker is a speaker who makes speeches intended to motivate or inspire an audience. Such speakers may attempt to challenge or transform their audiences. The speech itself is popularly known as a pep talk. Motivational speakers can deliver speeches at schools, colleges, places of worship, companies, corporations, government agencies, conferences, trade shows, summits, community organizations, and similar environments. Emanuel James Rohn (September 17, 1930 – December 5, 2009), professionally known as Jim Rohn, was an American entrepreneur, author and motivational speaker. Early life Emanuel James "Jim" Rohn was born in Yakima, Washington, to Emmanuel and Clara Rohn. The Rohns owned and worked a farm in Caldwell, Idaho, where Jim grew up as an only child. He was born to a poor family, became a millionaire at age 30, and went broke when he was 33. He later became a millionaire again. Rohn left college after one year. Career He started his professional life as a human resource manager for Sears. Around this time, a friend invited him to a lecture given by entrepreneur John Earl Shoaff.
