Christopher Sherratt White (born 9 September 1960) is a former New Zealand rower and Olympic Bronze medallist at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. He is described as "one of the giants of New Zealand rowing" and with 38 national titles, holds the record for most domestic rowing titles in New Zealand. Life White was born on 9 September 1960 in Gisborne, New Zealand. Richard White, an All Black, was his father. He was a member of the Waikato Rowing Club and in the 1980/81 rowing season, he became national champion in the coxed pairs, pairing with Greg Johnston and Noel Parris as cox. He first represented New Zealand at the 1981 World Rowing Championships in Oberschleißheim outside of Munich, Germany, where he rowed with the eight. With the New Zealand eight, he won world championships in 1982 and 1983 at Rotsee, Switzerland and at Wedau, Germany, respectively. "Christopher White" is #108 of the Child Ballads, the collection of 305 ballads from England and Scotland, and their American variants, collected by Francis James Child in the late nineteenth century. The collection was published as ''The English and Scottish Popular Ballads'' between 1882 and 1898 by Houghton Mifflin in ten volumes. Synopsis A maid bemoans the absence of her lover, Christopher White. A merchant offers to marry her instead. She tells him that if she was false to her lover, she'd be false to him. He offers more and more until he persuades her. She marries him, sends a letter to her lover with money, and when he comes, runs off with him and much of the merchant's treasure. The merchant laments, but acknowledges that she told him she would be false to him if she were false to her lover. Several changes were made to the show in a bid to place greater emphasis on high fashion, including a lineup of prominent fashion industry guest judges as well as a change in prizes. All three permanent judges from the previous cycle, ''Vogue'' editor-at-large André Leon Talley, photographer Nigel Barker and Tyra Banks, remained in place. Christopher White (technician)
Christopher White ( 1650–1695?) was a chemist and laboratory technician based in London and Oxford. He was selected to run one of the first purpose built university laboratories in the UK and has been referred to as the "first professional technician". Career White's father acted as an assistant to Peter Stahl, a German alchemist, when he gave an experimental chemistry course in Oxford. White helped his father on that course and then remained working as a trainee assistant to Stahl for three years. He then worked for Robert Boyle in Oxford and London for a further ten years. Returning to Oxford in 1676 White set up a successful business making chemical medicines and preparations. White was invited to run a new chemical laboratory that was to be built as part of the Ashmolean Museum at the University of Oxford. Sir Christopher John White CVO FBA (born 19 September 1930) is a British art historian and curator. He is the son of the artist and art administrator Gabriel White. He has specialized in the study of Rembrandt and Dutch Golden Age painting and printmaking. White received a BA from the University of London, followed by an MA from the University of Oxford, and a PhD at the Courtauld Institute, University of London. He then joined the British Museum's Department of Prints and Drawings in 1954. From 1965 to 1971 he was Director of Old Master Sales at Colnaghi in London, then moving to be curator of graphic arts for the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC until 1973. From 1973, White was Director of the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art, an affiliate of Yale in London, and also an associate director of the Yale Center for British Art. Christopher Mark Francis White (born 28 April 1967 in Australia) is a British Conservative Party politician and was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Warwick and Leamington from 2010 to 2017. He lost the seat at the 2017 general election. White is currently Director of the Institute for Industrial Strategy at King's College London. Education White was educated at the state comprehensive St. Gregory's Catholic School, Tunbridge Wells, followed by the University of Manchester, where he obtained a BEng in Engineering, and an MBA from the University of Bath. Chris White is an American multihull sailboat designer. Career White built his first trimaran, a Jim Brown designed Searunner 31, in 1973. In the late 1970s he worked with Jim Brown and Dick Newick. His first large design was the 52' trimaran, ''Juniper'', built in southern Virginia and launched in 1981, later sailed around the world by Henk de Velde. In 1983 he started his design business, developing the concept of the forward cockpit or pilot house catamaran. The first of the Atlantic Cats were launched in 1985. Chris White (born 16 July 1963) is an English international rugby referee. He is one of England's top rugby referees and has refereed at three Rugby World Cups. He started refereeing at 17 years of age and joined the Gloucester Referees Society in 1990. White was one of 16 referees appointed to the 1999 Rugby World Cup in Wales. He was also again selected as a referee at the 2003 Rugby World Cup in Australia. He refereed the semi-final of this competition between New Zealand and Australia. He was subsequently in charge of the 2005 Grand Slam decider between Wales and Ireland. During a 2007 Six Nations match between Italy and Wales, White ended the game after Wales, believing they had time to score a match winning try, kicked for touch from a penalty. Christopher Taylor White (born 7 March 1943) is an English singer, songwriter, musician, and record producer. White's music career spans more than 50 years. He came to prominence in the mid-1960s as the bass guitarist and occasional lead vocalist of the English rock band The Zombies. White is one of the main composers of the Zombies' music, and made major lyrical contributions to the band's songs. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019 as a member of the Zombies.
