Chris White (lacrosse)
Chris White (born April 26, 1980) is a professional box lacrosse player in the National Lacrosse League with the Toronto Rock. Professional career White was originally drafted in the second round, 20th overall by the Albany Attack in the 2001 NLL Entry Draft. White played one season with the Attack, then transferred with the franchise when it relocated to San Jose, California and became the San Jose Stealth in 2004. He was acquired by the Bandits in a trade on December 4, 2004. He was traded to the Bandits by the Stealth in exchange for a first-round pick, 11th overall (which was originally the Toronto Rock's pick) in the 2005 NLL Entry Draft. As of the conclusion of the 2008 season, White is ninth all-time on the Bandits penalty list. To start the 2009 season, he was named captain of the Bandits in place of injured Rich Kilgour. Toronto Rock
The Toronto Rock are a professional box lacrosse franchise based in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. They are members of the North Division of the National Lacrosse League (NLL). The team was the first Canadian franchise in the NLL. Oakville resident Jamie Dawick is the current owner of the Rock, purchasing the team after the 2009 season. Since 2014, Dawick has also served as their general manager. The Rock play their home games at FirstOntario Centre which they currently share with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the OHL. The franchise was founded in 1998 as the Ontario Raiders in Hamilton. The Raiders played at Copps Coliseum before being sold to a group of investors led by then Toronto Maple Leafs Assistant GM Bill Watters, who relocated the franchise to Toronto. 2009 NLL Season
The 2009 National Lacrosse League season, the 23rd in the history of the NLL, began January 3, 2009 in Buffalo, Portland, and Sunrise, Florida, and concluded with the Calgary Roughnecks defeating the New York Titans 12—10 in the Champion's Cup on May 15, 2009 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Team movement After the 2008 season was cancelled and then reinstated, the Boston Blazers and Arizona Sting both announced that they would not participate in the 2008 season, and would return in 2009. However, in the summer of 2008 the Arizona Sting ceased operations and its players were put in a dispersal draft. The Blazers drafted former Sting and LumberJax forward Dan Dawson first overall. Rich Kilgour
Rich Kilgour (born January 14, 1969) is a retired professional lacrosse player and current coach for the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League. He joined the Bandits in 1992 as a training camp invitee, and spent the next 18 years as a defensive specialist with the Bandits, 12 of those as team captain. His teams made the playoffs 13 times, played in eight championship games, and won four. A Niagara Falls, New York native, Kilgour played lacrosse and football at Niagara-Wheatfield High School, and attended Nazareth College from 1988 to 1990. As a Bandit, he played alongside his brothers Darris and Travis. Since retiring from the playing box, Kilgour has served as an assistant coach with the Bandits.
