Chris Stoll
Christopher Michael Stoll (born August 3, 1998) is an American football long snapper for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Penn State Nittany Lions and was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Seahawks after the 2023 NFL draft. Early life Stoll grew up in Westerville, Ohio and attended St. Francis DeSales High School. In high school, he was named a two-time Prokicker.com All-American long snapper selection, in his junior and senior years. Besides playing football, he also played lacrosse, hockey, and basketball. He decided to join Penn State as a preferred walk-on. College career Stoll played at Penn State for six years. In his first two years, he did not receive any playing time due to being redshirted and being a backup. In the 2019 season, Stoll played in 13 games while recording three tackles. Long Snapper
In American football, the long snapper (or deep snapper) is a center on special teams whose duty is to snap the football over a longer distance, typically around 15 yards during punts, and 7–8 yards during field goals and extra point attempts. Overview During field goal and point after touchdown attempts, the snap is received by the holder, typically 7–8 yards away. During punts, the snap is delivered to the punter from 13–15 yards away. Following a punt snap, the snapper often executes a blocking assignment and then must cover the kick by running downfield and attempting to stop the opposing team's punt returner from advancing the ball in the opposite direction. If the punt goes uncaught, it is the snapper's responsibility to make sure the ball does not enter the end zone or bounce backward resulting in loss of yards. 2023 Hula Bowl
The 2023 Hula Bowl was a postseason college football all-star game played on January 14, 2023, with kickoff at 12:00 noon EST, at FBC Mortgage Stadium in Orlando, Florida. It was the first all-star contest of the 2022–23 bowl games and, while not restricted to FBS players, one of the final games of the 2022 FBS football season. Television coverage was provided by CBS Sports Network. This was the second playing of the Hula Bowl outside of Hawaii, due to Aloha Stadium near Honolulu being closed for renovations. The game rostered players into Aina and Kai teams, the words for land and sea in the Hawaiian language. Burlsworth Trophy
The Burlsworth Trophy is an award given annually to the most outstanding FBS college football player who began his career as a walk-on. It was first awarded for the 2010 season and is a program of the Brandon Burlsworth Foundation. Burlsworth walked on to the Arkansas Razorbacks football program in 1994 and became an All-American. Redshirt, in United States college athletics, is a delay or suspension of an athlete's participation in order to lengthen their period of eligibility. Typically, a student's athletic eligibility in a given sport is four seasons, aligning with the four years of academic classes typically required to earn a bachelor's degree at an American college or university.
