Chris Simpson (cricketer)
Christopher Patrick Simpson (born 9 January 1982) in Brisbane, Queensland, is an Australian cricketer and former captain of the Queensland Bulls in Australian domestic cricket. He is a right arm offbreak bowler and right-handed batsman. Simpson attended school at Villanova College in Coorparoo, where he played for the 1st XI from grade 9 to 12. Simpson was originally a fast bowler, turning to offspin in 2001–02. He played his first Pura Cup in 2002–03 season against New South Wales, but it wasn't till 2005–06 that Simpson started tasting success. He played four Pura Cup games and was selected for the Prime Minister's XI against the West Indies. He faced the West Indies again, playing for Queensland, and picked up four wickets. His batting impressed, with two half-centuries in a total of 158 runs at 26.33. Coorparoo is a suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Coorparoo had a population of 16,282 people. Geography Coorparoo is by road south-east of the Brisbane GPO. It borders Camp Hill, Holland Park, Stones Corner, Greenslopes, East Brisbane and Norman Park. Toponymy Coorparoo was chosen as the name of the suburb at a public meeting on 22 March 1875, before which it was known as Four Mile Camp. The name Coorparoo is likely derived from an Aboriginal name for Norman Creek, probably recorded by early surveyors as ''Koolpuroom''. The word is thought to refer to either a place associated with mosquitoes, or a sound made by the 'gentle dove'. The latter explanation appears doubtful though, as 'gentle dove' may mean the spotted dove, which was introduced to the area in 1912, long after the name Coorparoo was adopted. James Hopes
James Redfern Hopes (born 24 October 1978) is an Australian cricket coach and former cricketer. Hopes played domestic cricket for Queensland, and had represented Australia in One Day International and Twenty20 International cricket from 2005 to 2010. Hopes was consistently one of the best bowlers in Australian domestic cricket through his career, and when he retired in 2016 he was the top wicket-taker of the last decade despite never being selected to play in a Test match for Australia. After his playing career, Hopes was the bowling coach of the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League until 2020. Jimmy Maher
James Patrick Maher (born 27 February 1974) is an Australian former cricketer, who played One Day Internationals. He is "an attractive left-handed batsman with a clumping cover-drive". Maher competed in the Gladiator Team Sports Challenge in 1995. Domestic career The following two seasons were a prolific pair for Maher playing for Queensland, a time which included a period at Glamorgan. In 2001–02, he became the first batsman to reach 1000 runs in the Pura Cup. On 25 February 2007, Maher was named Man of the Match in the Ford Rangers Cup Final against the Victorian Bushrangers after making 108 from 133 balls. Kimberley Busteed (born 4 June 1988) is an Australian beauty pageant titleholder who at won Miss Universe Australia 2007 and represented Australia in the 2007 Miss Universe pageant. The Prime Minister's XI or PM's XI (formerly Australian Prime Minister's Invitation XI) is an invitational cricket team picked by the Prime Minister of Australia for an annual match held at the Manuka Oval in Canberra against an overseas touring team.
