Chris Rees (badminton)
Christopher Rees (born 30 June 1965) is a former Welsh badminton player, who later works as national team coach and manager. He won the boys' doubles title at the European Junior Champions in 1983 and the men's doubles bronze medalist at the European Championships in 1988. He competed at the 1986, 1990, and 1994 Commonwealth Games The 1994 Commonwealth Games ( French: ''XVéme Jeux du Commonwealth'') were held in Victoria, British Columbia, from 18 to 28 August 1994. Badminton World Federation
The Badminton World Federation (BWF) is the international governing body for the sport of badminton recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). It was founded in 1934 as the International Badminton Federation (IBF) with nine member nations (Canada, Denmark, England, France, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Scotland and Wales). In 1981 the IBF merged with the World Badminton Federation, and on 24 September 2006, at the Extraordinary General Meeting in Madrid, the name of the organization was changed to Badminton World Federation (BWF). When the BWF was founded (as the IBF), its head office was located in Cheltenham, UK. The head office was relocated to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on October 1, 2005. Claus Thomsen (badminton)
Claus Thomsen (born 31 May 1970) is a Danish former professional footballer. He won the Danish Cup with AGF Aarhus and played in England for top level teams Ipswich Town and Everton, as well as Wolfsburg in Germany. He played 20 matches for the Danish national team, and represented Denmark at the 1992 Summer Olympics and 1996 European Championship. Life and career Born in Aarhus, Thomsen started his career at local top-flight club AGF Aarhus, where he initially played as a midfielder. Thomsen made his debut for the Danish under-21 national team in May 1989, where under-21 national team coach Richard Møller Nielsen used the 6' 3" Thomsen as a central defender. David Humble
David Gerard M. Humble (born 6 March 1967 in Dumfries, United Kingdom) is a retired male badminton player from Canada. Born in the United Kingdom, he later moved to Alberta and started to represent Canada in international tournaments. Career Humble competed in badminton at the 1992 Summer Olympics in men's singles. He lost in the first round to Darren Hall, of Great Britain, 15–6, 15–4. He was a finalist at the 1991 Irish International, where he lost 10–15, 3–15 to Jeroen van Dijk of the Netherlands. Dave Wright (badminton)
David Wright (born 10 April 1965) is a former English badminton international player and two times English National doubles champion. Biography Wright who represented Yorkshire became an English National doubles champion after winning the English National Badminton Championships men's doubles title with Nick Ponting in 1991. He then repeated the success two years in 1993 later but this time he partnered Julian Robertson. Wright represented Great Britain at the 1992 Olympic Games playing in the men's doubles with Nick Ponting. Darmstadtium is a chemical element with the symbol Ds and atomic number 110. It is an extremely radioactive synthetic element. The most stable known isotope, darmstadtium-281, has a half-life of approximately 12.7 seconds. Darmstadtium was first created in 1994 by the GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research in the city of Darmstadt, Germany, after which it was named. In the periodic table, it is a d-block transactinide element. Irish Open (badminton)
The Irish International or Irish Open in badminton is an international open held in Ireland since 1902 and is thereby one of the oldest badminton tournaments in the world. It was however interrupted by the two World Wars. This tournament is currently a part of the European Badminton Circuit and takes place at the end of November every year as part of the home nations loop of international tournaments that include the Scottish Open and the Welsh Open in consecutive weeks. The tournament for most part and in recent years has been an International Challenge rated event. The recent exception was in 2012, 2017 & 2018 when the tournament was downgraded to International Series due to funding. Recent editions have been held in the Baldoyle Badminton Centre except for 2007 and 2011 tournaments which were held in Lisburn, Northern Ireland.
