Chris Pyatt (born 1963 in Islington) is a former world middleweight champion boxer from Leicester, England. Boxing career Amateur He represented England and won a gold medal in the welterweight division, at the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. He was the ABA welterweight champion in 1982, fighting out of Belgrave ABC. Professional He won the WBO belt against Sumbu Kalambay on 19 May 1993 but lost it against Steve Collins on 11 May 1994 after 2 successful defences. He currently works with professional fighters. Errol Christie (29 June 1963 – 11 June 2017) was an English professional boxer and boxing trainer. He was the captain of the English amateur boxing team from 1980 to 1983 and European amateur champion in 1983. After turning professional he was a regular fixture on ''ITV Fight Night'' in the 1980s. Sumbu Kalambay
Patrizio Sumbu Kalambay (born 10 April 1956) is a Congolese-born Italian former professional boxer. A world champion and two-time title challenger, he held the WBA world middleweight title from 1987 until 1988. Personal life Kalambay was born in the Belgian Congo. He moved to Italy during his youth, settling in Chiaravalle, in the Marche region, where he learned boxing and still resides. He changed his name to Patrizio as a tribute to fellow Italian boxer Patrizio Oliva. Professional career After compiling an amateur record of 90 wins and 5 losses, Kalambay turned professional in 1980. Granby Halls was a popular live music, exhibition and sports arena in Leicester, England, also notable as the long serving home of professional basketball team, the Leicester Riders, from 1980 until 1999. Ponds Forge International Sports Centre is a leisure complex in Sheffield, England, that contains an Olympic-sized swimming pool with seating for 2,600 spectators, family and children's pools (50 m Competition pool and 25 m diving pit), water slides and other sports facilities.
