Chris Lewis (tennis)
Chris Lewis (born 9 March 1957) is a New Zealand former professional tennis player. Lewis reached the 1983 Wimbledon singles final as an unseeded player. He won three singles titles and achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 19 in April 1984. He also won eight doubles titles during his 12 years on the tour. Lewis was coached by Harry Hopman and Tony Roche. Lewis is the third (and as of 2021 the most recent) man from New Zealand to reach a major singles final, after Anthony Wilding at the 1913 Wimbledon Championships and Onny Parun at the 1973 Australian Open. Early life Lewis was born in Auckland, New Zealand, and received his secondary education at Marcellin College and Lynfield College. He is the eldest of three sons. Christopher Lockley Lewis (born 17 March 1969) is a former Australian rules footballer who played over 200 AFL senior games for the West Coast Eagles. An indigenous Australian, Lewis is one of the sons of Irwin Lewis, a notable scholar, sportsman, public servant, and indigenous Australian artist. Like his father and older brothers Clayton and Cameron, he attended Christ Church Grammar School, one of the elite independent schools in Western Australia, for his secondary education, and later played Australian rules football for the Claremont Football Club in the West Australian Football League. At the time Lewis attended Christ Church, the school apparently did not allow Year 10 students to play in the First XVIII football team (which was reserved for Year 11 and 12 boys, for safety reasons). Clairmonte Christopher Lewis (born 14 February 1968) is an English former cricketer, who played for Nottinghamshire, Surrey and Leicestershire in the 1990s. He played in 32 Test matches and 53 One Day Internationals (ODIs) for England between 1990 and 1998. Lewis was regarded as an aggressive lower-order batsman, fine fast-medium bowler and an able all-round fielder. He was regarded as a colourful player of the game, who never quite lived up to his early potential. He was later convicted of drug smuggling. Active in volunteer anti-spam efforts in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Lewis was described in '' Net.wars'' (1997) as "the best known active canceler of spam and other mass postings" at the time. In April 1998, he organized an unsuccessful moratorium with forty other anti-spam volunteers in an attempt to boycott internet service providers into doing their share against spam. John Christopher Lewis (born April 2, 1956) is a former professional tennis player from the United States. Biography Born in Santa Monica, California, Lewis studied business at the University of Southern California (USC) in the late 1970s. Tennis career Lewis was a three-time All-American for the USC Trojans and partnered with Bruce Manson to win the doubles title at the 1977 NCAA Division I Tennis Championships. As a professional player he competed briefly on the Grand Prix tennis circuit. His best result came at the 1979 New South Wales Open, where he and Steve Docherty were runners-up in the doubles event, to Peter McNamara and Paul McNamee. At the 1980 French Open he was a semi-finalist in the mixed doubles, with Leslie Allen. Chris Lewis (born 12 June 1992) is a professional rugby league footballer who plays as a forward for the Melbourne Storm in the National Rugby League (NRL). Early life Lewis played his junior rugby league for Ashford Roosters before being signed by Illawarra Steelers. Playing career Lewis with unsuccessful attempts of making first grade went onto play park footy for Shellharbour Sharks, Thirroul Butchers and Helensburgh Tigers. In 2016, he was part of the Illawarra Cutters team that won the NSW Intrust Cup premiership, while completing his teaching degree at University of Wollongong. Christopher Louis (born 9 July 1969) is an English international speedway motorcycle rider who rode for the Ipswich Witches and Hackney Kestrels.
