Christopher Alexander Hunter
Christopher Alexander Hunter, Fellow of the Royal Society, FRS (born 19 February 1965) is a British chemist and academic. Since 2014, he has been Herchel Smith Professor of Organic Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry, University of Cambridge, Department of Chemistry at the University of Cambridge. His research is currently focused on molecular recognition. He was previously a lecturer at the University of Otago and a lecturer then professor at the University of Sheffield. Early life and education Hunter was born on 19 February 1965 in Dunedin, New Zealand. He is the son of John Alexander Hunter and his wife Alice Mary Hunter. He and his family moved to Northern Ireland in 1969. He was educated at Portstewart Primary School and the Coleraine Academical Institution, an all-boys grammar school in Coleraine, County Londonderry. Chris Hunter (born November 27, 1972 in Winnipeg, Manitoba) is a former field hockey forward from Canada, who earned a total number of 69 international caps for the Women's National Team during her career in the 1990s. Chris Hunter is the pseudonym of a British author, bomb disposal expert and former British Army officer. Under his real name, Hunter holds the Queen's Gallantry Medal, and is therefore entitled to use the post-nominal QGM after his name. Military career Hunter joined the British Army in 1989 as a sixteen-year-old army apprentice. He trained initially as a Russian linguist working in defence intelligence and after four years of enlisted service was selected to undergo officer training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He graduated at twenty-one, and was subsequently awarded the Carmen Sword of Honour. He was then commissioned into the Royal Logistic Corps, the route that would eventually lead to his becoming an Ammunition Technical Officer (the British Army's bomb disposal operators). Christopher Edmond Hunter (born July 7, 1984) is a former American professional basketball player and currently works as the Director of Operations for the University of Michigan men's basketball team, where he also played college basketball. Before joining the Michigan Wolverines men's basketball staff, he played in several professional leagues. Most notably, he played in 60 games for the Golden State Warriors of the NBA, was an NBA Development League All-star in 2009 and played abroad.
