Chris Duffy (footballer, Born 1973)
Christopher John Duffy (born 31 October 1973) is an English former footballer who played as a defender and a midfielder. Career Initially playing in the youth set-up at both Manchester City and Crewe Alexandra, Duffy signed professional terms with Crewe in 1992. Whilst at Crewe, Duffy joined Mossley for a nine-game loan spell in the 1991–1992 season. In 1993, Duffy signed for Wigan Athletic, making 31 Football League appearances at the club, scoring once. In 1994, Duffy signed for Northwich Victoria, playing for the club for five seasons, before signing for Canvey Island in July 1999 for a record transfer fee of £5,000. Eccles () is a town in the City of Salford in Greater Manchester, England, west of Salford and west of Manchester, split by the M602 motorway and bordered by the Manchester Ship Canal to the south. The town is famous for the Eccles cake. Eccles grew around the 13th-century Parish Church of St Mary. Evidence of pre-historic human settlement has been discovered locally, but the area was predominantly agricultural until the Industrial Revolution, when a textile industry was established in the town. Jeffrey Gregory King (born May 1959) is an English financier and association football manager. Life and career King, a former Canvey Island player, took over ownership at Canvey in 1992 and both managed and funded the club's progress through the divisions between 1992 and 2006, where he left them in the Football Conference. In 2006, King announced that he was terminating his association with Canvey and instead took over at Isthmian League Premier Division club Chelmsford City. During his time at Chelmsford, King managed them to the 2007–08 Isthmian League Premier Division title. He then reached the Conference South play-off semi-final in the following season.
