Chris Ciriello
Christopher Ciriello (born 1 October 1985) is an Australian field hockey player. He plays for the Victorian Vikings in the Australian Hockey League. He made his senior national team début in January 2008. He earned a gold medal at the 2010 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy and at the 2010 and 2014 Commonwealth Games, as well as a bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Personal Ciriello is from Endeavour Hills, Victoria. In 2004, he worked part-time at JB HI-FI and was in his first year at the Australian College of Natural Medicine where he was studying remedial therapy. That year, he lost because of his busy personal and sport schedule that included training up to six times a week, with some days having two practices. His father and grandfather were both hockey players before him, and he himself took up hockey at the age of 4. He now lives in Perth with his wife Heidi Ciriello. Hockey At The 2014 Commonwealth Games – Men's Tournament
The men's field hockey event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games was held at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre from 25 July to 3 August 2014. Australia defeated India in the final to take their fifth consecutive gold medal at the Commonwealth Games, whilst England defeated New Zealand on penalties in the bronze medal match. Competition format Two groups each of five teams were drawn. Pool A consisted of Scotland, Australia, India, South Africa and Wales; whilst pool B consisted of Canada, England, Malaysia, New Zealand and Trinidad and Tobago. Australia Men's National Field Hockey Team
The Australia men's national field hockey team (nicknamed the Kookaburras) is one of the nation's most successful top-level sporting teams. They are the only Australian team in any sport to receive medals at six straight Summer Olympic Games (1992–2012). The Kookaburras placed in the top four in every Olympics between 1980 and 2012; in 2016, the Kookaburras placed sixth. They also won the Hockey World Cup in 1986, 2010 and 2014. Ric Charlesworth
Richard Ian Charlesworth AO (born 6 February 1952) is an Australian sports coach and former politician. He played first-class cricket for Western Australia and international field hockey for the Kookaburras (the Australian national team), winning a silver medal at the 1976 Summer Olympics. Charlesworth served as a federal member of parliament from 1983 to 1993, representing the Labor Party. After leaving politics, he was appointed coach of the Hockeyroos (the national women's field hockey team), leading them to Olympic gold medals in 1996 and 2000. Charlesworth later coached the Kookaburras from 2009 to 2014, and has also worked in consulting roles with the New Zealand national cricket team, the Australian Institute of Sport, and the Fremantle Football Club (an Australian football team). Victorian Vikings
The Victorian Vikings are a field hockey team which participate in Australia's national field hockey league, the AHL. The team is mostly made up of amateurs who participate in the Victorian State League Division 1. Previous to being known as the Victorian Vikings, the Victorian team have been referred to Melbourne Redbacks, VIS Redbacks and Azuma Vikings. The team's home stadium is the Victorian State Netball and Hockey Centre. Championships Since their inception in the inaugural 1991 season, the Vikings have won 2 championships; the fourth most of any club in the league. Doncaster Hockey Club is a field hockey club based in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England. The home ground is at the Doncaster Town Field Sports Club. The men's 1XI play in the Men's England Hockey League.
