Chris Chameleon
Chris Chameleon (born 28 July 1971) is a South African musician. He is the lead singer and bass guitarist for the band Boo!, and a solo artist. Chris has experience as an actor, making his debut in Franz Marx's Sonkring in the early 1990s, performing a role on 7de Laan as a musician, and starring in the South African soap opera, Binneland Sub Judice. Biography Chris Chameleon was born Chris Mulder on Wednesday, 28 July 1971. Chameleon released his debut album, ''Ek Herhaal Jou'', in 2005. It consists of the poems of Ingrid Jonker set to music. "''Ek Herhaal Jou''", and was nominated for a South African Music Award (SAMA) for Best Adult Contemporary Afrikaans Album in 2006. The album reached gold status in South Africa in July 2006 and platinum status in December 2007. A DVD, "''Volkleur''" was also released in 2005, and contained songs from "''Ek Herhaal Jou''" as well as hits from Boo!. A concept album is an album whose tracks hold a larger purpose or meaning collectively than they do individually. South African Music Awards
The South African Music Awards (often simply the SAMAs) are the Recording Industry of South Africa's music industry awards, established in 1995. The ceremony is held annually, usually in late April or May, with the judging process starting in November of the previous year. The nominations are typically announced at the end of March. The winners receive a gold-plated statuette called a SAMA. The show has mostly been held at the Super Bowl in Sun City, with the exception of three years, and broadcast live on national broadcaster, SABC. ''7de Laan'' is a South African Afrikaans soap opera created by Danie Odendaal and produced by Danie Odendaal Productions. The series focuses on the lives of residents staying in and around the community of 7de Laan (7th Avenue), in the suburb of Hillside. The programme's dialogue is primarily in Afrikaans and is subtitled in English with some English and Zulu dialogue in between. The street and shopfronts which are featured on the opening visuals, are that of Seventh Street in Melville, Johannesburg. History Odendaal originally conceived of the series when he was a resident of the Melville section of Johannesburg. At the time, Odendaal would watch the people of his community over breakfast and a cup of coffee at his favourite coffee shop. He would make up fictitious characters based on what he saw.
