Chołodecki
Chołodecki (variously spelled as Cholodecki, Hołodecki, Holodecki) is the Polish surname of one of the noble (''szlachta'') families. It is derived from the village of Chołodec located in Wołyń, currently located in Ukraine. According to historian Józef Białynia Chołodecki, an unknown member of the Białynia clan was given the rights to develop the land in and around Chołodec, and that individual took the last name of Chołodecki. The Chołodecki surname first appears in the 17th century in Poland. A Chołodecki is listed in the registers during the election of King Michał Korybut Wiśniowiecki in 1669. In the late 17th century Kazimierz Amor Chołodecki becomes a man of some stature in Włodzimierz Wołyński, living on the estate of Piatydnia. Józef Białynia Chołodecki
Józef Dominik "Kresowiec" Bartłomiej Chołodecki (15 August 1852 – 30 January 1934) was a Polish historian. Biography Chołodecki was born in 1852 in in the Galician region of the then Austro-Hungarian empire, close to the present day city of L'viv in the Ukraine. His adopted middle name of Bialynia refers to the clan and Coat of Arms of his family. Chołodecki was the son of Celestyn, a writer and a ''nadleśniczy'' of the forestry department in Galicia, and Emilia from the house of Setti da Forli. His academic studies began at home, and continued at primary school in Stryj located in present-day Ukraine. He attended high school in Lwów, and took his maturity exam on 10 October 1870. That same year he enrolled at the University of Lwów to study law, graduating in 1874. He had to work even while attending high school due to his father's death. Tomasz Chołodecki
Tomasz Chołodecki (21 December 1813 – 17 July 1880) was a political activist and Polish rebel and soldier, who took part in almost every major event that supported Poland's independence in the 19th century. November uprising Tomasz Chołodecki was the son of Kajetan Dominik Chołodecki, the leaseholder of Bednarów in what is now the Kalush Raion in Ukraine. He attended gymnasium nearby in Brzezany and continued his education with jesuit monks in Tarnopol. In 1831 Chołodecki joined General Józef Dwernicki's forces to fight in Poland's November Uprising. He fought in all of the 2nd corps battles, starting with the Battle of Stoczek and ending with the Battle of Boreml. He was injured in that battle and was captured. Celestyn Chołodecki
Celestyn Chołodecki (1816–1867) was a member from the szlachta (noble) family of Chołodecki. Like his son to follow, Józef Białynia Chołodecki, Celestyn Chołodecki was a writer and frequent contributor to leaflets calling for Poland's independence from Russia. Bednarów
Bodnariv (, ) is a village in Kalush Raion, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, Ukraine. History Bednarów was part of Austrian Galicia and had a Greek Catholic church in 1900. It was attacked by the Ukrainian Insurgent Army in 1944 during the Massacres of Poles in Volhynia and Eastern Galicia. 250 people were killed in the . The town's parish church was also burned down.
