''Chortophaga viridifasciata'', the green-striped grasshopper, is a species of band-winged grasshopper in the family Acrididae. Range and habitat It is found in Central America and North America, ranging from British Columbia to the Gulf of Mexico (mostly east of the Rocky Mountains), south to Costa Rica. Green-striped grasshoppers inhabit relatively moist areas of short grass, such as roadsides and hay meadows. Life-cycle The green-striped grasshopper is single-brooded in the Northern United States, North and west of the Great Plains but is multiple-brooded in the Southeastern United States, Southeast. In the single-brooded range, green-striped grasshoppers' eggs are laid early in the summer season. These eggs hatch later in the same summer. The nymphs will molt three to four times before winter.
