Chorto
Chorto ( el, Χόρτο) is a seaside village is the municipal unit of Argalasti in Magnesia, Greece. Its population in 2011 was 147. Chorto is located by the Pagasetic Gulf, 4 km south of Argalasti. There are several beach hotels and restaurants in the village. The ancient city of Spalathra was situated near Chorto. Located in the centre of Chorto is the museum Aggelini, which has a great range of old books, traditional objects of everyday use and many valuable relics. There are many hiking trails known as Kalderimi in the South Pelion area, which is a network of stone paths dating back a few hundred years. Chorto is also known for its two theatres, indoor and outdoor, which hosts musicians from all over the world. Argalasti
Argalasti ( el, Αργαλαστή) is a village and a former municipality in Magnesia, Thessaly, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality South Pelion, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 74.820 km2. It is built on a fertile plateau, 40 km southeast of Volos. It is an important commercial and tourism center of the area with a rich cultural tradition. Argalasti is a stopping point for those headed for the nearby beaches of the Pagasetic Gulf (Chorto, Kalamos, Lefokastro) or the Aegean Sea (Potistika, Melani, Paltsi). An example of the architecture of the beginning of the 20th century is the church tower of Sts. Apostles. Spalathra
Spalathra ( grc, Σπάλαθρα) or Spalauthra (Σπάλαυθρα), also called Spalethre (Σπαλέθρη) and Spalathron (Σπάλαθρον), was a town and polis (city-state) of Magnesia, in ancient Thessaly, upon the Pagasetic Gulf. It is conjectured that this town is meant by Lycophron, who describes Prothous, the leader of the Magnetes in the ''Iliad'', as ὁ ἐκ Παλαύθρων (Σπαλαύθρων). The town is also mentioned in the Periplus of Pseudo-Scylax as a city in Magnesia, together with Iolcus, Coracae, Methone and Olizon. Pagasetic Gulf
The Pagasetic Gulf ( el, Παγασητικός κόλπος, Pagasitikós kólpos) is a rounded gulf (max. depth 102 metres) in the Magnesia regional unit (east central Greece) that is formed by the Mount Pelion peninsula. It is connected with the Euboic Sea. The passage into the Euboic Sea is narrow and is about 4 km. Its main port is Volos. Mythology and history The gulf is named after its historic major port, Pagasae, from which mythology says that Jason built his ship the ''Argo'' and from which he sailed on his adventurous voyage.
