Tambourine De Bearn
The string drum or Tambourin de Béarn (in German) is a long rectangular box zither beaten with a mallet. It is paired with a one-handed flute (French: galoubet) with three finger holes, similar to a pipe and tabor. It has also been called tambourin de Gascogne, tambourin à cordes in Catalan, Pyrenean string drum, ttun-ttun in Basque , salmo in Spanish, and chicotén in Aragonese. It was known in the middle ages as the ''choron'' or ''chorus''. In specific usage, this name denotes a form of long psaltery-styled instrument that is tuned to provide drone chords when drummed. It can be found in a similar body shape with three to eight strings. The tuning is often held in root, tonic and dominant, or root and fifth. Georget Bernier (; 21 September 1929 – 10 January 2005), more commonly known as Professeur Choron (), was a French humorist and founder of '' Hara Kiri magazine''. Early years Born in La Neuville-aux-Bois in Lorraine, Bernier was orphaned by his father at 11 years and without a proper education, he vacillated between many jobs before fighting in the Indochina Wars for 28 months. On his return he worked in the press, and rose through the ranks to take the position of sales manager of the satirical newspaper ''Zéro''. Éditions du Square It was at ''Zéro'' that he met François Cavanna and Fred, with whom he founded the magazine ''Hara Kiri'' in 1960. Alexandre-Étienne Choron (21 October 1771 – 29 June 1834) was a French musicologist. For a short time he directed the Paris Opera. He made a distinction between sacred and secular music and was one of the originators of French interest in musicology. Biography Choron studied mathematics at the Collège de Juilly. Since his father had forbidden him to study music, he taught himself the theories of Jean-Philippe Rameau, followed by lessons in harmony from abbé Roze and Bonesi. Bonesi familiarized him with Italian music and the treatises on fugue and strict counterpoint of Nicola Sala (1713-1801). He drew from these his book ''Principes de composition des écoles d'Italie.'' He learned German, studied musical treatises in that language, then undertook to reform all branches of musical activity. Alexandre Étienne Choron
Alexandre Étienne Choron (1837 in Caen, Calvados – 1924) was a French chef. As ''chef de cuisine'' of the celebrated restaurant Voisin on the rue Saint Honoré, Choron is best known for his invention of Choron sauce, a sauce béarnaise enriched with tomato concentrate before reduction. Choron is also remembered for his dishes served during the Siege of Paris by the Prussians, which began on 19 September 1870. During the siege, Parisians were reduced to eating cats, dogs, and rats. The bourgeois were not content to eat such ''low'' animals, and demand at the ''de luxe'' restaurants remained high. As food reserves dwindled, these restaurants, including Voisin, improvised. Choron eyed the animals kept at the local zoo, and served exotic animal dishes at Voisin.
