The chief of defence (or head of defence) is the highest ranked commissioned officer of a nation's armed forces. The acronym CHOD is in common use within NATO and the European Union as a generic term for the highest national military position within the NATO and EU member states, rather than the actual term used for individual positions. Thus, irrespective of the formal national designation of that position is some variation on '' Commander-in-Chief'', '' Chief of Staff'', ''Supreme Commander'' or something else, they can all be referred to unambiguously as CHODs in NATO and EU terminology, although other terms are sometimes also seen within NATO. Chöd
Chöd ( lit. 'to sever') is a spiritual practice found primarily in the Yundrung Bön tradition as well as in the Nyingma and Kagyu schools of Tibetan Buddhism (where it is classed as Anuttarayoga Tantra). Also known as "cutting through the ego," the practices are based on the Prajñāpāramitā or "Perfection of Wisdom" sutras, which expound the " emptiness" concept of Buddhist philosophy. According to Mahayana Buddhists, emptiness is the ultimate wisdom of understanding that all things lack inherent existence. Chöd combines prajñāpāramitā philosophy with specific meditation methods and tantric ritual. The chod practitioner seeks to tap the power of fear through activities such as rituals set in graveyards, and visualisation of offering their bodies in a tantric feast in order to put their understanding of emptiness to the ultimate test. CHOD-FM, branded as ''92.1 GO FM'', is a radio station licensed to Cornwall, Ontario, which currently operates from studios in Casselman. Owned and operated by the Radio communautaire Cornwall-Alexandria cooperative, it is a non-profit community radio station. The station was licensed by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission on February 24, 1993 and officially launched on May 1, 1994. Chöd Drum
A damaru ( sa, डमरु, ; Tibetan ཌ་མ་རུ་ or རྔ་ཆུང) is a small two-headed drum, used in Hinduism and Tibetan Buddhism. In Hinduism, the damaru is known as the instrument of the deity Shiva, associated with Tantric traditions. It is said to be created by Shiva to produce spiritual sounds by which the whole universe has been created and regulated. In Tibetan Buddhism, the damaru is used as an instrument in meditation practices. Description The drum is typically made of wood, metal with leather drum heads at both ends. The resonator is made of brass. The height of the damaru is 6 inches and weight varies from 250-330 gm. Its height ranges from a few inches to a little over one foot. It is played single-handedly. Chodové
The Chodové (''Chods'', "Walkers", "Patrollers" or "Rangers") are an ethnic group living in western Bohemia. Today, the Chodové live in an arc of villages near the western border of the Czech Republic, including major population centers in Domažlice, Tachov and Přimda (together called the ''Chod region'', cs, Chodsko, german: Chodenland). The Chod dialect ( Czech: ''chodské nářečí'') is a dialect of the Czech language. It is spoken in the region called Chodsko in southwestern Bohemia, around the town of Domažlice. It belongs to the South-West Bohemian group of Czech dialects, but has important differences from the other dialects of that group. The speakers of the dialect have traditionally been called the Chods (Czech: ''Chodové''). The Chod dialect is among the most well-preserved regional dialects in the Czech Republic. Ch'od is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character is usually seen in the X-Men series and various spin-offs. Publication history Dave Cockrum created the Starjammers with the intent of having them star in their own series. However, when he submitted the concept for Marvel's two try-out series, ''Marvel Spotlight'' and ''Marvel Premiere'', he was repeatedly informed that these series were booked for two years solid. Cockrum showed the Starjammers to ''X-Men'' writer Chris Claremont and convinced him to use the characters for this series. He first appeared in ''X-Men'' #104 (April 1977).
