Chloe Sophia Maxmin (born 1992) is an American Democratic politician and environmental activist currently serving as the Maine State Senator for District 13. A resident of Nobleboro, she was elected to the Maine House of Representatives in November 2018 and to the Maine Senate in November 2020, defeating incumbent Minority Leader Dana Dow. Maxmin was the first Democrat ever to represent Maine House District 88, the youngest member of the 129th Maine Legislature, and is the youngest female state senator in Maine's history. Early life and education Maxmin was born in 1992 and grew up on a venison farm in Nobleboro, Maine. She attended Lincoln Academy. Inspired by a 2005 proposal by Plum Creek Development Company to develop Moosehead Lake in the North Maine Woods, she founded the Lincoln Academy Climate Action Club as a ninth grader.. Dana L. Dow is an American politician from Maine. Dow served as a Republican State Senator from Maine's 20th District, where he represented most of Lincoln County, including his residence in Waldoboro. He graduated from the first class of Medomak Valley High School in 1969. He graduated from the University of Southern Maine. He was first elected to the Maine State Senate in 2004. He served a term (2010-12) in the Maine House of Representatives. In February 2012, Dow sought his old Senate seat following the resignation of David Trahan. He was defeated by Chris Johnson. Troy Dale Jackson (born June 26, 1968) is an American logger and politician from Allagash, Maine currently serving as president of the Maine Senate. Jackson represents Maine Senate District 1, representing northern Aroostook County, including the towns of Fort Kent, Madawaska and Caribou. Jackson has served as Senate President since 2018. Emerge America is a non-profit national political organization based in San Francisco with the mission to increase the number of Democratic women leaders from diverse backgrounds in public office through recruitment, training and providing a powerful network.
