CHIVA (charity)
The Children's HIV Association (CHIVA) is a British charity which supports children, young people and families living with HIV. The charity's aims are: * Enhance the health and social outcomes for children, young people and families living with HIV * Reduce the isolation of children and young people living with HIV * Ensure the voices of children, young people and families living with HIV are present in service and practice development * Reduce the stigma faced by children, young people and families living with HIV * Facilitate knowledge about HIV and thus empower young people with HIV to become more independent. In 2008 it worked with the British Medical Association to publish a joint set of guidelines for the management of HIV in pregnant women. Chiva Bus
A chiva (Spanish for goat) or ''escalera'' (Spanish for ladder and stairs) is an artisan rustic bus used in rural Colombia. Chivas are adapted to rural public transport, especially considering the mountainous geography of the Andean region of these countries. The buses are varied and characterized by being painted colorfully (usually with the yellow, blue, and red colors of the flags of Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador) with local arabesques and figures. CHIVA method is a type of surgery used to treat varicose veins that occur as a result of long term venous insufficiency. The term is a French acronym for Conservatrice Hémodynamique de l'Insuffisance Veineuse en Ambulatoire (ambulatory conservative hemodynamic treatment venous insufficiency).
