Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury is a standing committee member of Bangladesh Nationalist Party, and former Minister of Commerce. He hails from a political family in Chittagong and headed the city's BNP unit momentarily to organize the party. Career Chowdhury was elected to Parliament from Chittagong-8 in a by-election as a candidate of Bangladesh Nationalist Party in September 1991. Chowdhury was re-elected Parliament from Chittagong-8 as a candidate of Bangladesh Nationalist Party in June 1996 with 47.1 percent (116,547 votes) of the votes while his nearest rival, Muhammad Afsarul Ameen, received 40.4 (106, 341 votes) percent of the votes. Moin Uddin Khan Badal
Moin Uddin Khan Badal (21 February 1952 – 7 November 2019) was a Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal politician. He was an MP of Chittagong-7 and Chittagong-8. Early life Badal was born on 21 February 1952, in Sarowatali village in Boalkhali Upazila, Chittagong to Ahmadullah Khan and Zatuma Khatun. Badal was involved with Chhatra League in his student days, actively took part in the Liberation War. He was one of the key persons who tried to prevent offloading of firearms at Chittagong port during the war. He studied at the Chittagong Collegiate School. Career Badal was elected to Parliament from Chittagong-7 in 2008 as a candidate of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal. He was also a candidate of the Grand Alliance. Moslem Uddin Ahmad
Moslem Uddin Ahmad (1 June 1948 – 6 February 2023) was a Bangladesh Awami League politician who was a Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Chittagong-8 constituency from January 2020 until his death. Biography Ahmad was appointed the vice president of the Government College of Commerce, Chittagong unit of Chhatra League in 1969. Later, he was appointed the general secretary of Chittagong unit of Chhatra League. He was also appointed the acting general secretary of Chittagong unit of Chhatra League in 1970. Ahmad took part in the Liberation War of Bangladesh. After the Liberation of Bangladesh he was appointed the general secretary of Chittagong unit of Chhatra League in 1972. 2008 Bangladeshi General Election
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 29 December 2008. The two main parties in the election were the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), led by Khaleda Zia, and the Bangladesh Awami League Party, led by Sheikh Hasina. The Bangladesh Awami League Party formed a fourteen-party Grand Alliance including Ershad's Jatiya Party, while the BNP formed a four-party alliance which included the Islamist party Jamaat-e-Islami. The election was originally scheduled for January 2007, but it was postponed by a military-controlled caretaker government for an extended period of time. The elections resulted in a landslide victory for the Awami League-led grand alliance, which won 263 seats out 300. 2018 Bangladeshi General Election
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 30 December 2018 to elect 300 directly-elected members of the Jatiya Sangsad. The result was a landslide victory for the Awami League led by Sheikh Hasina. According to political scientist Ali Riaz, the elections were not free and fair. The BBC News reported that they were marred by violence and allegations of vote rigging. Opposition leader Kamal Hossain rejected the results, calling it "farcical" and demanding fresh elections to be held under a neutral government. General elections were held in Bangladesh on 3 March 1988. They were boycotted by several major parties, including the Bangladesh Awami League, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, the Communist Party of Bangladesh, Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Krishak Sramik Awami League, the National Awami Party (Muzaffar) and the Workers Party of Bangladesh.
