''Overcome'' is the fourth studio album by the American metalcore band All That Remains. It was released on September 19, 2008. ''Overcome'' is the first album by All That Remains that was not produced by Adam Dutkiewicz of Killswitch Engage and also the first album with drummer Jason Costa. Overview On July 21, 2008, two tracks from the new album - "Before the Damned" and "Relinquish" - made their first appearance on the band's MySpace profile. Commenting on the tracks, vocalist Philip Labonte stated, "This represents the heavier side of ATR. Last time we did this we put up 'The Weak Willed' and we feel like it's a bit of a tradition to really kick you in the nuts when we first show off new stuff! All That Remains (band)
All That Remains is an American heavy metal band from Springfield, Massachusetts, formed in 1998. They have released nine studio albums, a live CD and DVD, and have sold over a million records worldwide. The group currently consists of vocalist Philip Labonte, rhythm guitarist Mike Martin, former Diecast drummer Jason Costa, and lead guitarist Jason Richardson, with Labonte being the last remaining original member. In spite of this, the band's line-up had remained consistent from the release of 2008's '' Overcome'' until 2015's ''The Order of Things'', spanning four albums. This line-up changed, however, in September 2015, when long-time bassist Jeanne Sagan left the band, with Patrick taking her place, and then again in February 2019, when the band confirmed that Jason Richardson would be joining the band to replace the deceased lead guitarist and original member, Oli Herbert. Metalcore
Metalcore (also known as metallic hardcore) is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. As with other styles blending metal and hardcore, such as crust punk and grindcore, metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, slow, intense passages conducive to moshing. Other defining instrumental qualities include heavy riffs and stop-start rhythm guitar playing, occasional blast beats, and double bass drumming. Vocalists in the genre typically use thrash or scream vocals. Some later metalcore bands combine this with clean singing, often during the chorus. Death growls and gang vocals are common. 1990s metalcore bands were inspired by hardcore while later metalcore bands were inspired by melodic death metal bands like At the Gates and In Flames. ''Dead Heart in a Dead World'' is the fourth studio album by American heavy metal band Nevermore, released in October 2000. In a style comparable to a darker, heavier Queensrÿche, its songs range topics such as criticism of drug possession penalties to rejection of religion. The album also features a cover of Simon & Garfunkel's hit, " The Sound of Silence". It is also notable for being Nevermore's first record utilizing seven-string guitars. The album featured one single in the track "Believe in Nothing", which was covered by All That Remains on their 2008 album, '' Overcome''. It was also covered by Firewind in 2008, on the Century Media covers album "Covering 20 Years of Extremes". The bonus track ''Chances Three'' had been previously recorded under the title ''Three Chances'' in a 1990 demo by Sanctuary, as well as with its current title in the 1992 Nevermore demo entitled ''Utopia''.
