Muloza–Chiringa Road
The Muloza–Chiringa Road is a road in the Southern Region of Malawi, connecting the towns of Muloza in Mulanje District, and Chiringa, in Phalombe District. Location The road starts at Muloza as the T-415 road and progresses at first, in a general north-easterly direction, hugging the Ruo River and the Malawi/Mozambique border. At the southeastern corner of the Mulanje Mountain Forest Reserve, the road abandons the course of the river and the border, turning northwards, hugging the eastern edge of the forest reserve, to end at Chiringa, a total distance of approximately . Overview This road is important as it connects the international border town of Muloza to the interior of Malawi. Before 2019, the road had a gravel surface. Ken Lipenga
Ken Diston Lipenga (born 14 February 1952) is a Malawian politician, journalist, and writer. He was the Member of Parliament for Phalombe East from 1997 to 2014. He has served in various ministerial positions. Personal life Ken Diston Lipenga was born on 14 February 1952 at Chiringa, Phalombe District. He attended Nazombe Primary School and then went to Mulanje Day Secondary School. Lipenga entered the University of Malawi, enrolling at Soche Hill College in 1972 and graduating with a B.Ed (Distinction) in 1976. He majored in English and History as well as Education. He then completed an M.A at the University of Leeds in 1978. Lipenga won a Graduate Assistantship to study for Ph.D in English Literature at the University of New Brunswick in Canada and graduated in 1984. His thesis was entitled "Alienation in the Novels of Ayi Kwei Armah". He returned home to continue with his teaching work at Chancellor College. Lipenga is married to Stella. Phalombe
Phalombe is a town in Malawi. It is the district capital of Phalombe District. Location Phalombe is located about , by road, north-east of Mulanje, along the T408 Road. This is approximately , by road, east of Blantyre, the financial capital of Malawi and the largest city in the country's Southern Region. Phalombe lies at an average location of above sea level. Blantyre () is Malawi's centre of finance and commerce, and its second largest city, with an enumerated 800,264 inhabitants .
