Chiri Babu Maharjan
Babu Maharjan ( ne, चिरी बाबु महर्जन) is a Nepali politician serving as the Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City since 2017. A member of the Nepali Congress since 1989, he won the local elections of the then Lalitpur Municipality in the years 1981, 1987, and 1992, and consequently served as a Ward Chairperson of the 03-Ward for three times. Maharjan was born in Lalitpur, Nepal. After completing his Master's in Commerce from Tribhuvan University in 1984/5, Maharjan continued his political career by involving in socio-political activism. His political interest was driven in the later years of his youth, but initially he showcased interest in social work. Tribhuvan University
Tribhuvan University (TU; ne, त्रिभुवन विश्वविद्यालय) is a public university located in Kirtipur, Kathmandu. Established in 1959, TU is the oldest university in Nepal. Gyan Bahadur Yakthumba Limbu (16 March 1920 – 1 March 1970) was a Nepali police officer and diplomat. He joined the Nepali Police with the rank of Major and was promoted to the rank of Inspector General of Nepal Police, after succeeding Nara Shumsher J.B.R. as the police chief. Sitaram Hachhethu ( ne, सिताराम हाछेथु) is an ex-policeman of Nepal police. He worked in Metropolitan Traffic Police Division as traffic police for 29 years. After retirement from Nepal police, he joined Lalitpur Metropolitan City Police under the leadership of mayor Chiri Babu Maharjan. He has received national awards such as Order of Gorkha Dakshina Bahu, Gorkha Dakshina Bahu and Prabal Jansewa Padak, the highest award for the civilian in Nepal. 2022 Nepalese Local Elections
The 2022 Nepalese local elections were held on 13 May, 2022 in 6 metropolitan cities, 11 sub-metropolitan cities, 276 municipalities and 460 rural municipalities. These were the second set of local-level elections to be held since the promulgation of the new constitution in 2015. Electoral system Each local body has an elected head, a chair for rural municipalities and a mayor for municipalities. They also have a deputy head, a deputy chair for rural municipalities and a deputy mayor for municipalities. 2017 Nepalese Local Elections
The 2017 Nepalese local elections were held in Nepal in three phases on 14 May, 28 June and 18 September in 6 metropolitan cities, 11 sub-metropolitan cities, 276 municipalities and 460 rural municipalities. It was the first local level election to be held since the promulgation of the 2015 constitution.
