Varser ( hy, Վարսեր) is a village in the Sevan Municipality of the Gegharkunik Province of Armenia. Etymology The name Varser is derived from a root word meaning "hair". According to popular folklore, this refers to a girl who drowned in Lake Sevan, after which her long hair spread out across the water. Davis Chirchir (born c. 1960) is a Kenyan politician who was nominated by Former President Uhuru Kenyatta as Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum on 25 April 2013. He is also a renowned 'IT guru', having started his career in Telkom Kenya, then known as Kenya Posts and Telecommunications Corporation. Selina Chirchir (born August 28, 1968) is a retired Kenyan middle-distance runner and a marathoner. She competed at the 1984 Summer Olympics while still a schoolgirl at the Sing'ore Girls' Secondary School in Iten. She won women's 800 metres at the 1986 World Junior Championships in Athletics and finished second in 1500 metres. The next year she won two gold medals (800 and 1500 metres) at the 1987 All-Africa Games, held in Nairobi, Kenya. At the 1987 World Championships she failed to make the final.
