Chingiz Gurbanov
Chingiz Gurbanov ( az, Çingiz Salman oğlu Qurbanov) (November 24, 1994, Qusar District, Azerbaijan – December 29, 2016, Tovuz District, Azerbaijan) was the soldier of Azerbaijani Armed Forces and "National Hero of Azerbaijan". Biography Chingiz Gurbanov was born on 24 November 1994 in the village of Həzrə, Qusar, Khazra in Qusar District, Qusar, Azerbaijan. After graduating from secondary school in 2012, he entered Azerbaijan Technical University, from which he graduated in 2016. He was drafted to Azerbaijani Armed Forces serving from 2016 through 2017. Military career Chingiz Gurbanov was killed in a shootout with the Armenian forces on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border on December 29, 2016. As a result, Chingiz Gurbanov's body had remained on the Armenian side for more than three weeks. Qusar District
Qusar District (; az, Qusar rayonu; lez, КцIар район, script=Latn) is one of the 66 districts of Azerbaijan. It is located in the north-east of the country and belongs to the Guba-Khachmaz Economic Region. The district borders the districts of Quba, Qabala, Khachmaz, and the Russian Republic of Dagestan. Its capital and largest city is Qusar. As of 2020, the district had a population of 99,000. Toponymy There are several theories about the origin of the word "Qusar". One of them is that the word "qusar" comes from the Russian language, meaning "cavalry warrior". "Qusar" regiment was organized in this territory in 1783–1784. The district was probably named "Qusar" after the name of the regiment. There is another theory that the word "qusar" derived from an ancient Turkish tribe called "qus/ quz" with the prefix "ar" meaning male. National Heroes Of Azerbaijan
The National Hero of Azerbaijan ( az, Azərbaycan milli qəhrəmanı) is the highest national title in the Republic of Azerbaijan. The title was named on 25 March 1992, and the "Qizil Ulduz" Medal awarded as a sign of receiving this title was established by a separate law in 15 July 1992. The law on the title has been in effect since 25 December 1995. It can only be awarded once to the same person. The title is awarded for outstanding services of national importance to Azerbaijan in defence and strengthening of the state system and creation of important national values. Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict
The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is an ethnic and territorial conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan over the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh, inhabited mostly by ethnic Armenians, and seven surrounding districts, inhabited mostly by Azerbaijanis until their expulsion during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War. The Qizil Ulduz Medal (Gold Star) ( az, "Qızıl Ulduz" medalı) is an award that honors a National Hero of Azerbaijan. The award was established by Abulfaz Elchibey (the former President of Azerbaijan) on March 25, 1992 (by Decree No. 201). This award is conferred for bravery and courage shown in defense of the sovereignty, the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan and for the protection of its civil population.
