Chinese Wushu Association
The Chinese Wushu Association (CWA) is the governing body of wushu in all of its forms throughout China. Since its founding in 1958, it has been credited with the development and standardization of modern wushu and sanda throughout the world. History The Central Guoshu Institute was created in 1928 by the Kuomintang as a means of standardizing the practice of wushu throughout China. It closed in 1948 due to a lack of funding. In 1958 under the Chinese Communist Party, the Chinese Wushu Association was founded in Beijing. The first chairman was Li Menghua. That year, the first National Games of China was held and wushu was an official event. In the mid to late 1980s, the CWA organized a series of competitions known as the International Invitational Wushu Championships which included 1985, 1986, and 1988 renditions for taolu competition, as well as a sanda competition in 1988. The General Administration of Sport () is the government agency responsible for sports in mainland China. It is subordinate to the State Council of the People's Republic of China. National Games Of China
The National Games of the People's Republic of China (), sometimes known as the All China Games (though not to be confused with the All-China Games), is the premier sports event in China at national level. It is usually held once every four years, most recently in September 2021, when the 14th National Games of China took place in Xi'an. The forerunner of the Games was the Chinese National Games, first held in 1910 during the Qing dynasty. This tournament ran until 1948 and the competition was relaunched under its current name in 1959, following the formation of the People's Republic of China. The magazine is based in Valencia, California, and is one of the oldest titles dedicated to martial arts in the United States. History and profile The magazine was founded in 1961 by Mitoshi Uyehara. It was published by Uyehara under the company "Black Belt, Inc." based in Los Angeles until 1973.
