Films

August First Film Studio
August First Film Studio, or Bayi Film Studio (Chinese: 八一电影制片厂; pinyin: ''Bāyī diànyǐng zhì piàn chǎng)'', is the only military film studio in China. Ode To The Dragon River
An ode (from grc, ᾠδή, ōdḗ) is a type of lyric poetry. Odes are elaborately structured poems praising or glorifying an event or individual, describing nature intellectually as well as emotionally. A classic ode is structured in three major parts: the '' strophe'', the ''antistrophe'', and the '' epode''. Different forms such as the ''homostrophic ode'' and the ''irregular ode'' also enter. Greek odes were originally poetic pieces performed with musical accompaniment. As time passed on, they gradually became known as personal lyrical compositions whether sung (with or without musical instruments) or merely recited (always with accompaniment). The primary instruments used were the aulos and the lyre (the latter was the most revered instrument to the ancient Greeks). After School (1972 Film)
''After School'' ( zh, 放学以后) is a 1972 Chinese animated short film. Background The film was produced and released under the term of chairman Mao Zedong when the cultural revolution was still ongoing. Changchun Film Group Corporation
Changchun Film Studio Group Corporation () is a Chinese film production company in Changchun. It is one of the studios transitioned from the 1940s, and has been considered one of the cornerstones of the Chinese film industry. Early history The surrender of Japan in World War II caused the Manchukuo Film Association to disband in 1946. The parts that were sanctioned by the Chinese government would integrate with the Yan'an Film Studio () and the Northeast Film Studio. The War of Liberation would break out in 1949 forcing the studio to move to Changchun. By 1950 it was considered founded, and by 1955 the Northeast Film Studio technically no longer existed, since China's Ministry of Culture would officially rename the newly combined entity as "Changchun Film Studio". Under the new name, it would also become the first registered film factory under the People's Republic of China. Shajiabang (opera)
''Shajiabang'' (Chinese: 沙家浜, also ''Shachiapang''); first produced under the title ''Sparks Amid the Reeds'', is a Chinese revolutionary opera and one of the eight "model plays" permitted during the Cultural Revolution. Production It was first produced as a Shanghai opera entitled ''Sparks amid the Reeds'' (芦荡火种) or ''Emerald Water and Red Flags'' in 1958 by the Hu Opera Troupe. In October 1963, the First Peking Opera Company adapted it as a Peking opera. Mao Zedong saw it in 1964 and asked that the title be changed, as sparks would not set wet reeds alight, so it was named after its setting, the town of Shajiabang ("sands family creek"). Jiang Qing (Mao's wife, a leading figure in the Cultural Revolution), insisted that the role of the Red Army political commissar be expanded.
