China Times Eagles
The China Times Eagles () is a defunct professional baseball team belonging to the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) that existed between 1993 and 1997. History Originally formed as an amateur club Black Eagles in 1990, this club was purchased by the China Times Corporation in November 1991 and professionalized in 1992 after absorbing a group of players from the Chinese Taipei national baseball team who just won silver medal in the Baseball at the 1992 Summer Olympics, 1992 Summer Olympics, like its sister team Jungo Bears. This club took Kaohsiung Li De Baseball Stadium (Chengching Lake Baseball Field was not built at that time) and Pingtung Baseball Field as its home throughout its history. Chinese Professional Baseball League
The Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL; ) is the top-tier professional baseball league in Taiwan. The league was established in 1989 and played the first season in 1990. CPBL eventually absorbed the competing Taiwan Major League in 2003. As of the 2023 season, the CPBL consists of six organizations, all of which have teams in the main league and farm league. The CPBL consists of Major () and, since 2006, Minor () leagues, with the Minor league team rosters consist of developmental and injury-recovering players. CPBL TV is CPBL's official paid live-streaming and video-on-demand platform. It receives signals from each team's broadcasting partners and is available worldwide. Robinson Checo
Robinson Pérez Checo (born September 9, 1971, in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic) is a former pitcher who played in Major League Baseball from through . He batted and threw right-handed. A well-traveled pitcher, Checo never was able to fulfill the potential that he showed in the minor leagues. He played for at least 13 teams in four countries during his 12-year career. In 1989, Checo pitched for the California Angels organization in the Dominican Summer League. After that, he played for the Japan's Hiroshima Toyo Carp minor league system (1990–92) and with the China Times Eagles in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (1993–94), before returning to Hiroshima in 1995. That season, he went 15–8 with 166 strikeouts and a 2.74 ERA with the Toyo Carp and also became the first foreign pitcher to pitch a shutout in his first Central League appearance, over the Hanshin Tigers. Pascual Pérez (baseball)
Pascual Gross Pérez (May 17, 1957 – November 1, 2012) was a Dominican professional baseball player who pitched in the Major Leagues for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Atlanta Braves, Montreal Expos, and New York Yankees. Career Pérez was signed by scout Neftalí Cruz for the Pittsburgh Pirates organization in 1976. He reached the major league club in 1980. Traded to the Braves on June 30, 1982, he enjoyed his winningest seasons while with that organization, going 15–8 and 14–8 in 1983 and 1984 respectively. His most successful seasons were spent with the Montreal Expos, where he went 28-21 with a 2.80 ERA between 1987 and 1989. Ravelo Manzanillo Adams (born October 17, 1963) is a former Dominican pitcher in Major League Baseball. Career Manzanillo played with the Chicago White Sox and Pittsburgh Pirates over parts of three seasons spanning 1988–1994. Listed at 6' 1" (1.83 m), 210 lb. (95 k), he batted and threw left-handed. Manzanillo posted a 4–3 record with a 4.43 earned run average in 53 games for the White Sox and Pirates. He also spent 18 seasons in the Minor Leagues from 1981 to 2005, including stints in the Korea, Taiwan and Mexico baseball circuits. In between, Manzanillo played winter ball with the Leones del Caracas club of the Venezuelan League, and for the Tigres de Licey and Leones del Escogido of the Dominican League. The Wei Chuan Dragons () are a professional baseball team in Taiwan's Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) that originally existed between 1990 and 1999. In 2019, negotiations regarding the franchise's revival and return to the CPBL took place. The team played one season of minor league baseball in 2020 and rejoined the CPBL in 2021. History Wei Chuan Dragons had a long amateur history when its parent company, the Wei Chuan Foods Corporation, started sponsoring Chinese Culture University's baseball team in the late 1970s.
