Chile National Cricket Team
The Chile national cricket team is the team that represents Chile in international cricket. The team is organised by the Chilean Cricket Association, which became an affiliate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2001 and an associate member in 2017. However, the national side had debuted as early as 1893, when it played Argentina in Santiago. Chile began playing regular international matches in the early 1920s, and, with the exception of a gap during World War II, has continued to do so since then. Until the team affiliated to the ICC, its opponents were almost all other South American teams. It first participated in an ICC tournament in 2006, when it fielded a team in division three of the 2006 ICC Americas Championship. Charles Sutton (cricketer, Born 1906)
Charles Henry Sutton (17 December 1906 – 29 July 1945) was an English-Chilean first-class cricketer and Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve officer. Sutton played first-class cricket for the South American cricket team in 1932, before serving in the Second World War with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve. Toward the end of the war he fell seriously ill, dying just over a month before its conclusion. Life and military career Sutton was born at North Bierley in Yorkshire to Charles Evans Sutton and his wife, Annie Gertrude Sutton. He was educated at The Leys School. After completing his education, he moved to Valparaíso in Chile to help in his father's company which was based in the city. Having played cricket for club teams in Chile, Sutton was selected to tour England with the South American cricket team in 1932, making a single first-class appearance on the tour against Sir J. Cricket in Chile is a minor but growing sport. The Chilean playing season runs from September to December. There are at least 10 cricket clubs and 2 turf pitches in Chile. History Cricket is first recorded as having been played in Chile at Valparaíso in 1829 between the crew of two Royal Navy vessels. The countries oldest cricket club, Valparaíso Cricket Club was formed in 1860 and hosted regular matches throughout the 19th and early 20th century between the clubs of Concepción and the Prince of Wales Country Club. These teams mostly contained British expatriates. In 1893, Chile played its first international match against Argentina, a fixture in which it took the Argentine team 3 days to cross the Andes to reach Santiago to fulfill the fixture. Mexico National Cricket Team
The Mexican national cricket team represents the country of Mexico in international cricket. They became an affiliate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2004 and their international debut was in 2006 against Costa Rica. The team made their ICC Americas Championship debut in June 2010 and in 2011 participated in the ICC Americas Division 3 tournament in Costa Rica. The ICC Americas Championship is the continental cricket championship for the Americas region, for Affiliate and Associate members of the International Cricket Council in North, Central and South America, and the Caribbean. 2019 South American Cricket Championship – Men's Tournament
The 2019 South American Cricket Championship was a cricket tournament took place in Lima, Peru from 3 to 6 October 2019. This was the sixteenth edition of the men's South American Cricket Championship, and the first in which matches were eligible for T20I status, since the ICC granted Twenty20 International (T20I) status to matches between all of its Members. Twenty20 (T20) is a shortened game format of cricket. At the professional level, it was introduced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2003 for the inter-county competition. In a Twenty20 game, the two teams have a single innings each, which is restricted to a maximum of 20 overs. Together with first-class and List A cricket, Twenty20 is one of the three current forms of cricket recognised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as being at the highest international or domestic level. A typical Twenty20 game is completed in about two and a half hours, with each innings lasting around 70 minutes and an official 10-minute break between the innings. A Twenty20 International (T20I) is a form of cricket, played between two of the international members of the International Cricket Council (ICC), in which each team faces a maximum of twenty overs. The matches have top-class status and are the highest T20 standard. The game is played under the rules of Twenty20 cricket. Starting from the format's inception in 2005, T20I status only applied to Full Members and some Associate Member teams. However, in April 2018, the ICC announced that it would grant T20I status to all its 105 members from 1 January 2019.
