''Children of the Corn'' (advertised as ''Stephen King's Children of the Corn'') is a 1984 American supernatural slasher film based upon Stephen King's 1977 short story of the same name. Directed by Fritz Kiersch, the film's cast consists of Peter Horton, Linda Hamilton, John Franklin, Courtney Gains, Robby Kiger, Anne Marie McEvoy, Julie Maddalena, and R. G. Armstrong. Set in the fictitious rural town of Gatlin, Nebraska, the film tells the story of a malevolent entity referred to as "He Who Walks Behind the Rows" which entices the town's children to ritually murder all the town's adults, and a couple driving across the country, to ensure a successful corn harvest. King wrote the original draft of the screenplay, which focused more on the characters of Burt and Vicky and depicted more history on the uprising of the children in Gatlin. George Keith "Fritz" Kiersch (born July 23, 1951, in Alpine, Texas) is an American film director, writer and producer. He is perhaps best known for directing the horror film '' Children of the Corn'' and the drama ''Tuff Turf''. On July 9, 2021, Fritz was a special guest on the season one finale of ''The Ghost of Hollywood'' podcast. During the interview, he discussed his work on ''Children of the Corn'' and ''Tuff Turf''. He also talked about his production company, Kirby/Kiersch Film Group, which he founded with Terrence Kirby in 1981. Slasher Film
A slasher film is a genre of horror films involving a killer stalking and murdering a group of people, usually by use of bladed or sharp tools like knife, chainsaw, scalpel, etc. Although the term "slasher" may occasionally be used informally as a generic term for any horror film involving murder, film analysts cite an established set of characteristics which set slasher films apart from other horror subgenres, such as monster movies, splatter films, supernatural and psychological horror films. Hornick is a city in Woodbury County, Iowa, United States. It is part of the Sioux City, IA– NE– SD metropolitan statistical area. The population was 255 at the time of the 2020 census. Geography Hornick is located at (42.230972, -96.096610). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , of which is land and 0.01 square mile (0.03 km2) is water. The town is located on the floodplain of the Missouri River, near the edge of the Loess Hills, adjacent to the old (meandered) channel of the West Fork of the Little Sioux River. Children of the Corn was an American hip-hop group formed in 1993, consisting of neighborhood friends and fellow Harlem rappers Big L, Cam'ron, Ma$e, Herb McGruff, and Bloodshed. The group's name is a play on words; it is short for Children of the Corner, and also references Stephen King's 1984 film of the same name.
