Alisa Childers (born Alisa Noelle Girard; April 17, 1975) is an American singer and songwriter. She is known for being in the all female Christian music group ZOEgirl. She has had a string of top ten radio singles, four studio releases, and received the GMA Dove Awards, Dove Award from being with ZOEgirl. In 2020, she was included in the Christian apologetics film ''American Gospel: Christ Crucified''. Nessa Maria Vereker Childers (born 9 October 1956) is an Irish Independent politician who served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from 2009 to 2019. Early life She is the daughter of the fourth President of Ireland, Erskine H. Childers and his second wife, Rita Childers. Her paternal grandfather was Erskine Childers, a leading Irish republican and author of the espionage thriller ''The Riddle of the Sands''. Flying Childers (1715–1741) was a famous undefeated 18th-century thoroughbred racehorse, foaled in 1714 at Carr House, Warmsworth, Doncaster, and is sometimes considered as the first truly great racehorse in the history of thoroughbreds and the first to catch the public imagination. Breeding Flying Childers was sired by the great Darley Arabian, one of the three foundation stallions of the thoroughbred breed. His dam, Betty Leedes, was by (Old) Careless, and she was inbred to Spanker in the second and third generations (2x3). Childers Reforms
The Childers Reforms of 1881 reorganised the infantry regiments of the British Army. The reforms were done by Secretary of State for War Hugh Childers during 1881, and were a continuation of the earlier Cardwell Reforms. The reorganisation was effected by General Order 41/1881, issued on 1 May 1881, amended by G.O. 70/1881 dated 1 July, which created a network of multi-battalion regiments. In England, Wales and Scotland, each regiment was to have two regular or "line" battalions and two Militia (United Kingdom), militia battalions. In Ireland, there were to be two line and three militia battalions. This was done by renaming the numbered regiments of foot and county militia regiments. In addition, the various corps of county Volunteer Force (Great Britain), rifle volunteers were to be designated as volunteer battalions. Childers Palace Backpackers Hostel Fire
The Childers Palace Backpackers Hostel fire on 23 June 2000 killed 15 backpackers nine women and six men at the former Palace Hotel in the town of Childers, Queensland, Australia, which had been converted into a backpacker hostel. Robert Paul Long was arrested for lighting the fire and charged with two counts of murder and one count of arson. He was later sentenced to life imprisonment. Incident The fire started shortly before 12:30 am, in the downstairs recreation room and quickly spread up the walls and into the stairwell. Childers is a rural town and locality in the Bundaberg Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , the locality of Childers had a population of 1,584 people. Geography Childers is in the Wide Bay-Burnett region of Queensland, Australia, situated on the Bruce Highway and lies north of the state capital Brisbane and south-west of Bundaberg. The Isis Highway runs south from the Bruce Highway in Childers. The township is set on a ridge overlooking fields of rich volcanic soil. Sam Childers (born 1963), also known as the Machine Gun Preacher, is an American motorcyclist, author, and humanitarian.
