Chikondi Banda (28 December 1979 – 8 August 2013) was a Malawian international footballer who played as a midfielder. Career Banda played club football for Big Bullets and Michiru Castles. He made his international debut for Malawi in 2000, earning a total of 7 caps, including appearing in one FIFA World Cup qualifying match. Illness and death Banda died on 8 August 2013, due to cerebral malaria, aged 33. A midfielder is an outfield position in association football. Midfielders may play an exclusively defensive role, breaking up attacks, and are in that case known as defensive midfielders. Malawi National Football Team
The Malawi national football team, nicknamed ''The Flames'', represents Malawi in international football and is controlled by the Football Association of Malawi. Before 1966, they were known as the Nyasaland national football team. They have qualified for three Africa Cup of Nations, in 1984, 2010 and 2021. They also won the CECAFA Cup in 1978, 1979 and 1988. History Malawi first qualified for an African Cup of Nations in 1984, when only eight teams competed in the tournament in Ivory Coast. Peter Banda (born 22 September 2000) is a Malawian professional footballer who was played in Tanzanian Premier League club Simba, Nyasa Big Bullets FC in Malawi TNM Super League and the Malawi national team. He Plays a midfielder or winger. Career Banda started his career with Griffin Young Stars in 2017. In 2018, he trialed for South African club Orlando Pirates. In 2019, he instead joined Big Bullets FC. Before the second half of the 2020–21 season, he signed for FC Sheriff Tiraspol in Moldova after a trial.
