Chikez Diemu
Ghislain Chikez (or Tshikez) Diemu is a politician in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and a member of the People's Party for Reconstruction and Democracy (PPRD), of which he was previously Secretary General. He joined the Alliance of Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Congo (AFDL) in 1997 and was appointed Vice-Minister of the Interior by Joseph Kabila, and later on, Secretary General of the PPRD. He was also previously Vice-Governor of Katanga province for economic affairs. Starting 6 February 2007, he served as Minister of Defense and Veterans' Affairs (Anciens Combattants), supervising the FARDC, in the government of Antoine Gizenga. However President Kabila distrusts the official military structure in Kinshasa and prefers to give instructions directly to the commanders in the east. The Minister of Defence and Veterans () is a minister of the DR Congo government responsible for implementation of government defence policy and supervises the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Charles Mwando Nsimba
Charles Mwando Simba (18 October 1936– 12 December 2016) was a Congolese politician and member of UNADEF. He was born in Moba, Tanganyika District. From February 6, 2007, to October 2008, he served in the government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo as Minister of Rural Development. In October 2008, he was appointed as Defense Minister in Adolphe Muzito's cabinet, succeeding Chikez Diemu Ghislain Chikez (or Tshikez) Diemu is a politician in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and a member of the People's Party for Reconstruction and Democracy (PPRD), of which he was previously Secretary General. Antoine Gizenga
Antoine Gizenga (5 October 1925 – 24 February 2019) was a Congolese (DRC) politician who was the Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of the Congo from 30 December 2006 to 10 October 2008. He was the Secretary-General of the Unified Lumumbist Party (''Parti Lumumbiste Unifié'', PALU). Early life Antoine Gizenga was born on 5 October 1925 in the small village of Mbanze in present day Kwilu province in what was then the Belgian Congo. He attended a Catholic missionary primary school and received his secondary education at the Kinzambi and Mayidi seminaries. He became an ordained Catholic priest in 1947 and led a parish out of his home in Kwilu. He left his position for personal reasons and took several clerical and accounting jobs. People's Party For Reconstruction And Democracy
The People's Party for Reconstruction and Democracy (''french: Parti du Peuple pour la Reconstruction et la Démocratie'' or PPRD) is a political party in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is the political structure established by the former president of the country, Joseph Kabila. In the 2006 general election the PPRD won 111 out of 500 seats in the lower house of parliament and became the largest party in parliament. The 2006 general election was the first free election since the 1960s. On November 27, 2006, the presidential candidate supported by the PPRD, Joseph Kabila, was declared the winner of the 2006 Presidential elections, by the Supreme Court of Justice. The Alliance of Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Congo-Zaire (ADFLC; french: Alliance des Forces Démocratiques pour la Libération du Congo-Zaïre; AFDL) was a coalition of Rwandan, Ugandan, Burundian, and Congolese dissidents, disgruntled minority groups, and nations that toppled Mobutu Sese Seko and brought Laurent-Désiré Kabila to power in the First Congo War. Katanga Province
Katanga was one of the four large provinces created in the Belgian Congo in 1914. It was one of the eleven provinces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo between 1966 and 2015, when it was split into the Tanganyika Province, Tanganyika, Haut-Lomami, Lualaba Province, Lualaba, and Haut-Katanga provinces. FARDC
The Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (french: Forces armées de la république démocratique du Congo [FARDC]) is the armed forces, state organisation responsible for defending the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The FARDC was rebuilt patchily as part of the peace process which followed the end of the Second Congo War in July 2003. The majority of FARDC members are land forces, but it also has a small air force and an even smaller navy. In 2010–2011 the three services may have numbered between 144,000 and 159,000 personnel.
