Abdulla Shamaal
Major General Abdulla Shamaal MA MSc ndu psc (born 5 July 1969) is the incumbent Chief of Defence Force (CDF) of Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF). General Shamaal was appointed to the post of Chief of Defence Force on 11 December 2018 by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. Shamaal was trained in various military institutions such as the United States Army Infantry School in Fort Benning, the Pakistan Military Academy and the Defence Services Staff College in India. Shamaal was previously discharged from service in November 2013 but was reinstated in December 2018 following High Court verdict that his discharge was unlawful. Mohamed Zahir
Major General Mohamed Zahir (Dhivehi: މުހައްމަދު ޒާހިރު) is a former Chief of Defence Force of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) of the Republic of Maldives. After completion of secondary education from Majeediya School in 1972, Zahir joined the civil service and worked in various government departments before enlisting in the Maldives National Defense Force in 1978 to the rank of sergeant and was commissioned as an officer two years later. He assumed command as Chief of Defence Force (CDF) of MNDF, formerly known as the National Security Service (NSS), on November 11, 1996, as a brigadier. MSc National Defence College, India, ndc psc (British Army), psc is a retired Major General of the Maldives National Defence Force who served as the 3rd Chief of Defence Force (Maldives), Chief of Defence Force of Maldives National Defence Force from 18 November 2008 until 7 February 2012. Major General (Retd) Ahmed Shiyam was serving as the Chief of Defence Force of the Maldives National Defence Force. He was appointed to this post on 9 February 2012. Military career and training Shiyam joined the Maldivian National Defence Force on 16 September 1986 and is a graduate of the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, UK.
